Columbia Raintech Jacket
November 04, 2010
Like the jacket, fit's me well, could improve on the zipper, would be nice it had a zipper that would unzip from the bottom as well as from the top. Can't comment on the rainproof portion of it, never had it on in the rain.Pros: Build quality, Ease of use
January 04, 2011
The jacket was a great buy. It didn't say this in the description at the time that I bought it, but it is also packable into one of its own pockets (a definite advantage). My biggest complaint is that the overall sizing is not great for me, but that may be the fault of genetics seemings as I am only 5'5" and not the normal 5'10" the jacket was built for. The shoulders of the medium jacket that I bought fit great, but the rest of it was gigantic even when I was wearing an appropriate sized North Face down jacket under it. It held up well in harsh rain and the pockets even kept their contents dry.Pros: Great design, Great value, Cons: size

Took it on a trip to Europe and could pack it into my carryon. Very light, packable. Only thing is that I can't figure out what the hook and loop velcro thingy on the hook is supposed to be for. Thought it was for folding away the hood into a collar, but that doesn't work.

I've used this jacket several times and have found it very comfortable. It handles rain really well. I didn't get wet once. The jacket is slightly large for size, but that works out well for layering with another jackets within. I like the pockets a lot too. The one on the insides is fairly deep and very convenient. Overall, this is a great jacket, and I will recommend buying it to anyone.
very good Jacket

This is a good deal. It is very light and fits almost all kinds of condition. I haven't tried it in rains, but I do have tested it in my bathroom with water. This is a pretty cool water proof jacket!Pros: Ease of use, Great value
perfect rain jacket
December 09, 2010
The is incredible light, and cool, and even keeps you dry. Not to mention it is wind proof, so you can layer with ease. It is cut a little large for the size, but that is perfect for me, as I used it all fall and most the the winter with a sweat shirt. I love it, and purchased one for the wife. Only complaint was the lack of colors for the sizes I was looking for, and still found colors I was happy with.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: more colors
Columbia rain tech jacket
December 21, 2011
I ordered the black Columbia rain tech jacket and it is great. It fits true to size and looks really good. The liner is a bit bright but the omni heat works great. I would recommend this jacket for anyone.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

This rain jacket has (almost) all the essentials: complete waterproofing and windproofing, good breathability, elastic bands and Velcro to adjust the tightness of various key locations on the jacket, a perfect hood, and comfortable design. But what it is sorely missing are the underarm zippers that allow for enhanced air flow when its hot outside. I've owned many jackets with and without this feature, and it's almost a necessity when you're on the go, This is especially true for a rain jacket, that by design keeps the elements out and unavoidably keeps a good portion of the heat in. For a hot and rainy summer day when you're hiking or even just walking place to place, these underarm vents could be a lifesaver. The Raintech jacket has large pocket on the front that open up to porous mesh on the inside, which I suppose could have been designed to promote airflow, but because of their location they're susceptible to letting unwanted water in during heavier rain. However they seem to work well when the rainfall is light. I found the fit to be a little on the large size. I am 5'10'' and weigh about 160 pounds. I purchased a medium, and it is large enough to go over a few layers of insulation. This has worked out well though, as it allows me to use it as a hard shell for the winter weather. All in all though this is an excellent jacket, and for its price it does its job wonderfully.Pros: Performance, complete functionality, Cons: no underarm zippers

Exactly what I'd expected from Columbia sportswear.

Seattle- notorious for its rain and incredible woods. I needed a waterproof, windproof, hooded light shell to carry with me for when the weather shifts. This is perfect. I can feel the warm sun on me and enjoy the weather and the woods in comfort. At a price I can afford.
Great jacket for the money
January 23, 2011
I bought this on sale for my husband, who needed something truly waterproof for work and cycling. So far, it has done the trick, the fit is excellent, and it packs up nice and small.Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
Columbia Raintech Jacket
March 28, 2012
I am 6' tall & weigh 193. I can find no faults with the Raintech jacket (Large size) other than it is a tad too big for me even when I wear 3 sweat shirts beneath it. I would return it for a medium, but I feel certain it would be a little too small for me--you can wear a jacket that is too big, but it's doubtful if you can one that is too small. A medium-large probably fit me to a T, but alas Columbia does not offer such a size in this jacket. It's a wise policy to try clothing on before purchasing. Yesterday I wore the jacket for 35 minutes in a moderate rain (light to medium) & it provided excellent protection. With tip-toe expectancy I wait to test it in a harder downpour. The jacket lined with "OMNI-HEAT" complete with the slogan MAKE YOUR OWN HEAT." I'm of the opinion that this is just a marketing ploy as I feel no warmer in it than any of other jackets of similar weight. Still it's great jacket for the price, if it fits you. Don't be "a Tweener" like me.

I love this jacket. I wanted a shell that I could mix and match with the dozens of fleece pullovers I seem to have. Bulky jackets don't travel well. I like the pack-able feature for hikes. The Omni-Heat makes a noticeable difference, it warmer; but not uncomfortably so. I would have liked a heavier duty zipper. That is my only con so far. Great jacket, I look forward to trying to wear it out.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
December 26, 2011

Men's Raintech Jacket
March 04, 2011
Purchased this jacket for Oregon fishing in the rain. So far has done a good job of keeping both wind and rain out. Good combination of being heavy enough to do the job but light enough to also be packable. Ample headroom under the hood, true to size and overall great deal for the money.Pros: Performance, Great value, true to size
Columbia Men Rain Jacket Keeps Him Dry and Warm
January 06, 2011
We bought a size M jacket for our brother-in-law who loves it a lot! He said that this rain jacket kept the rain and wind out really well. The size fits him really well and the cuffs are just right length. He also loves the color (we bought him a green) that matches a lot of his cool colored outfits.Pros: Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value
March 27, 2011
Great buy, very happy with this jacket and I am looking forward to it's use in Alaska this summer! I am going to buy 2 more for my sons who are going to join me in my trip to Alaska.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value
shell at a good price
January 05, 2011
I live at the ocean and this shell meets my needs. It works as a good outer layer to protect me from rain and wind. Large enough to layer and long enough to protect my backside. The pockets are high on the jacket but I have made the adjustment.Pros: Great value
December 07, 2010
This was purchased for our 23 year old son. It is a great rain jacket especially for living in Seattle. The fit is nice-(loose), and the jacket just looks good. It is lightweight and you can easily wear a non-bulky sweater under it. I definitely recommend this.Pros: Performance, Ease of use, Great value
Excellent light rain jacket
November 10, 2010
Great Columbia 3-season rain jacket, highly recommended. Doesn't have the vinyl feel of most rain jackets, it's waterproof and very breathable. I've warn it with a t-shirt in Summer and a long-sleeve layer in Fall (with temps down to the 40's) and have been totally dry and warm. Looks cool also. It does run a bit big. I'm 5'10", 170 lbs. The XL was huge but the L fits me perfect.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great value
