A great shoe at a great price! Wore them during a light rain while fishing and had no problems. I was looking for a shoe that I could use when fishing in a light rain and I found them!

Pros: good price

The Omni-Grip outsole provides superior traction and durability for when you're climbing over rocks or maneuvering through streams, while the Omni-Tech waterproof-breathable upper keeps your feet comfortable and dry. I found this to be mostly true, however the soles should have been more resistant to rocks, as you tend to feel the more sharper ones.

Pros: price, Cons: not vibram

Good lightweight and waterproof
March 26, 2011

I actually bought these shoes for work. I work on a golf course and need lightweight waterproof shoes. The dew in the morning is very thick and I get soaked with regular shoes. These however are great. They provide good traction even on wet slopes. The Omni-Tech system keeps me dry. I even stepped in running water and stayed dry. Also, they are lightweight and very comfortable. I fully plan on buying more once this pair wears out. I really have no negatives about this shoe. So far so good.

Pros: waterproof, lightweight, good traction, Cons: none

almost just right
June 16, 2011

As a golf caddie, I need waterproof shoes but I often need to run so these shoes are perfect. They also look cooler than other waterproof running shoes I have seen. Two criticisms I would make about the shoe is they seem to run a little big for for the size. Also, the right shoe had some fabric that poked down on top of my foot. Not that it hurt or really affected the shoe, it just seemed like a minor defect since the left shoe did not have it. Overall I think these are great quality shoes for a fantastic price.

Super Comfy
April 06, 2011

I actually bought these to work in. I do construction and am on my feet all day up and down ladders moving bending etc. I was sick of having sore feet at the end of the day and I don't have that problem with these shoes. They feel great I want another pair but their sold out.

Great for disc golfing
December 31, 2011

This is the third pair I've bought for my husband for disc golfing. He loves the traction, fit, and water resistant features. He works on concrete all day and says they're pretty comfy. He's pretty hard on shoes and these have held up well.

Perfect for me
April 04, 2011

I’m planning a 17 mile overnighter for this summer and I wanted a pair of hiking shoes that would protect me from the elements I’d encounter, be lightweight, and fit comfortably. I’m 37 years old and won’t be sprinting, but I don’t move too slowly, either. Columbia’s Ravenous Omni-Tech Trail Running Shoes are perfect for what I’m doing. Of all the shoes I looked at these were some of the least expensive due to a sale Altrec had at the time. I figured that even if they weren’t the best, that they’d be good enough for what I needed. However, Columbia products generally exceed the “good enough” mark. On to the specifics. They’re lightweight. I’m 5’11’’, weigh 205, and wear a size 13 shoe. The bigger a shoe gets, the heavier it gets, but these still feel light on my feet. I will say that they have a bit of bulk, especially on the thickness of the sole, but I got used to it fairly quickly. They’re comfortable. The arch on the instep is significant, but has mellowed a bit with wear and I’ve gotten used to it. They are very cushioned, which is important when you consider that my weight combined with the weight of a full pack will be pressing down on it. The front of the shoe is roomy which is great for hiking, but maybe not so much for running as it would allow for too much movement. My odd-shaped, wide forefoot is very happy, though. They’re sturdy. The materials, thought though look a bit shiny and over plastic-ed for you usual trail shoe are actually fairly tough. The laces, upper, etc. are very durable. They’re waterproof. I mean they’re really waterproof. This is important to me as I live in Oregon where trails are muddy and streams flow year-round. My maiden voyage in these shoes was a spring-time walk with the dog at night in the rain. I was out about 20 minutes- and that’s 20 Oregon rain minutes. That’s usually enough to soak my usual running shoes. I detoured through some tall, wet grass. Yesterday I took the dog on another walk. We found some puddles, 2-3 inches deep, which I walked back and forth through. Both times I came back to find my socks bone dry. I decided I needed to write a review. If you’re looking for a fast running shoe, it’s probably not the one. It’s too big and not streamlined enough for speed. If you do more of a trail jog or need a shoe that is sturdy and supportive, then this would be fine. If you want lightweight, comfort, and protection from the elements this is the shoe you’re looking for.

Extremely comfortable on the trail. They keep my feet dry and on the trail. Highly recommend for trail runners in the rail! This is not a warm summer shoe but rather a cold and wet shoe!

Shoes good but...
December 24, 2010

I took the shoes out for a 1.5 hr jog on the local trails right away. The left shoe felt great on my foot, however, the right shoe left me with the distinct beginnings of several blisters although I've never had any problems with other running shoes I've worn. Overall, the cushioning was good, minimal to no slippage at all, and they seemed good grasping up an incline. Thus, I can't give either a highly critical nor can I give a hearty thumbs up for the shoes - hence the average recommendation.

Great Value
March 21, 2011

The shoes have great support and more cushioning than other running shoes I've tried. The fit is exactly per the online fitting guide. Overall a great value.
