Great shorts!
October 15, 2011

I just bought these to replace an identical pair I finally ripped. These shorts are fantastic. They are light and dry very quickly. They are well made and durable. I love canyoneering in southern Utah, and have squeezed through the tightest of slot canyons, swam through stagnant water pools, etc., and these shorts could not have performed better. I can't believe how much punishment they took before finally ripping on a bad rock. For the price, buy two!

Product is really light weight with a great moisture wicking material. These shorts do not constrict your movement at all. I found that the shorts fit true to size, and they do come with a waist belt so that they are fully adjustable. Great shorts.

Excellent all purpose short
June 21, 2011

It's difficut to find shorts with a 12" inseam so I'm pleased to find these at Altec! Local outdoor suppliers only carry the standard 10" inseam which my todays styles is just a bit too short. Great fit with a little extra give in the elastic waist band for those of use who need it. Lighweight and cool for hot summer days.

the best travel shorts on the market
May 04, 2011

i bought this shorts to take with me on a trip to Asia. the front right pocket has a secret pocket with a zipper that i will be keeping my wallet in. the design would make it very hard for any pick pocket to steel your wallet or passprt. Columbia did a very good job with these shorts.

My favorite shorts !
September 19, 2011

I have owned several pairs of these shorts over the last few years. and they still sit on the top of the stack of shorts I've collected. That way they are the first pair I grab in the morning. I have two or three pair in four different colors. I can wear them just about anywhere, the newer ones out with my grilfriend and the faded ones to work. They dry quickly and actually fade to a lighter color after a couple years of use, but are extremely durable and tear resistant.

Great Travel Shorts
January 25, 2012

I bought these shorts for my 4 month motorcycle trip around the USA. The are light, take up very little space, and dry quickly. Didn't like the M,L,XL, etc sizes, had to return one pair as too small. I prefer actual sizes for ordering. Wonderful return policy.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, great for packing light., Cons: prefer real sizes when ordering

Great shorts: light, quick dry.
October 11, 2011

Finally, a replacement for the Columbia shorts that I purchased about three years ago. I fell in love with those, and purchased about 10 pairs. They are now falling apart (due to much use, not due to poor workmanship) and need replacement. Of course, they don't make the same shorts anymore. These seem to be the closest replacement. What I like: 1. The fabric is very light and dries very quickly. I hate heavy fabric in shorts. When I want heavy fabric, I wear jeans. 2. The inseam (if you go with the 12" option) is long enough. I feel like a basketball player from the 70s when I wear shorts with a 9" inseam. 3. Actual belt loops! There is a belt included if you like, and it is actually OK. But I prefer my own belt, and these shorts allow me to remove the one that is supplied and use mine. 4. Zippered rear pocket. I travel and pickpockets have unsuccessfully tried to rob me because of zippered pockets like this. 5. Zippered front pocket. I like to know that my cell phone isn't going to escape. 6. Other pockets. OK, I don't really use them. But they are there. Normally I would hate the "flap" tops to the pockets because they would curl coming out of the wash (and I'm not going to iron shorts), but they don't curl because of the lightweight fabric. 7. Bathing suit? You don't need no stinking bathing suit! They look like regular shorts, but perfect for swimming. One less thing to pack. 8. I've only had these a little while, but I feel OK in rating the durability as they seem to be the same fabric as the other shorts I have. They lasted quite a while, but eventually gave up the ghost. But they took a lot of abuse along the way. So still a "5". One caveat: I normally wear a size "L" in Columbia shorts (my waist is around 35-36 inches). In these, the "L" was way too big. The "M" was perfect.

Pros: Great design, Great value, quick dry, belt loops

Sizing
May 08, 2012

Was on border between a large and med so I went with the med. Out of the box they fit great but after one washing they shrunk. A little snugger than I like but still comfortable and fit well thru the thighs.
