For pants that do it all, the Men's Columbia Silver Ridge Convertible Pants are pretty handy to have around. When the unpredictable weather creeps in, turn the shorts into pants with two quick zips and you're covered.
Made from quick dry nylon, these Columbia zip-off pants are lightweight and durable. The fabric wicks away moisture and offers a UPF 30 rating for added protection from the sun's rays while the lower legs unzip and slip right off thanks to their relaxed cut. Once converted, you've got shorts with a 10-inch inseam – offering a moderate amount of coverage for brushy trails. The built-in belt adds adjustability and security for any adventure, while a good selection of pockets including two zippered cargo pockets keep small items organized and secure. Mobility is great thanks to the gusset detail and the fabric's natural, lightweight feel.
A great match for cool mountain mornings and extended trips that demand you pack light, the Columbia Men's Silver Ridge Convertible Pants offer 2-in-1 versatility to keep your options open.

What a workhorse!!

These Pants are Great. Comfortable, high performance, and super durable. I took these out for a first-time test drive this weekend on an overnight hike on some heavily overgrown Ozark trails with tons of briars and fallen trees and limbs. Lots of tears, scratches and scrapes. But not on the pants. They proved to be very durable. They also wicked well and along with a base layer, kept me plenty warm in 30 and 40 degree weather. These are going to be my go to hiking pants from now on.
Excellent 3-season pants/shorts
October 26, 2012
I'm 6'2 175 pounds and bought 34w32i. They fit perfectly. Usually I wear a 30-32w, but these pants run a little tighter than I'm used to. I tried these on in store before purchasing. They come with an adjustable belt, so sizing up makes sense for comfort. They're excellent for 3-season hiking. I've used them for dayhikes, overnights, backpacking trips, trail runs, and walking around town. They're not waterproof, but they do dry quickly. My one gripe would be a lack of color-coded zippers when you take off the pants legs or try to put them back on at night. I've had other pants with this feature in the past and it was helpful when changing in the early a.m. However, this is a small enough problem. I liked these pants enough that I bought a 2nd pair for extended backpacking trips.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, Cons: lack of color-coded zippers

This is an excellent pair of pants. Light weight and like the side pocket. The fit is perfect. Also like the fact it comes with it's own belt. Fast drying if you get wet. Better to hike in these pants then jeans. Jeans every get wet when your hiking it takes all day to dry but these pants dry in less than an hour.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

These are an excellent choice for travelling - the pants can be used for hiking and then if heat is an issue, you can always convert them to shorts. I am planning on using these on another travel soon.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

Great pants, very comfortable. I find they are just a little bit bigger through the hips and thighs than my Silver Ridge II convertibles, making for a more comfortable fit.
