Great Coat, couple quirks
February 04, 2012

I was in dire need of an actual warm coat. I've been messing around with trying to save money by buying coats that I could "get by" with. I decided to make a serious purchase. This is the most expensive coat I've ever bought. For years, I've been using lands end coats. and while they are warm, their sizing is not right for me. I am somewhere between a L and M with them, but not either specifically. The columbia fits perfect. I absolutely recommend this jacket for warmth. it really is incredible. I shoveled my driveway in -2 degree weather with nothing but a T-shirt underneath. Now, while I love this coat, I will give you a few quirks, because it is A LOT of money to spend on a coat. There aren't many, but they are worth mentioning. 1. The inner hood does not connect to the outer hood, so it flops out all the time. They really should have at least installed a piece of velcro in there to hold the inner hood in place. I will probably do it myself. wasnt a deal breaker for me, just an irritation. 2. The inner sleeves connect with one single button hook near the wrist. when removing the coat, the sleeves come up a pretty good distance before you can pull out your arm. I have a slight fear that this little loop holding the sleeve in will rip at some point. If it does, I will send the coat back. not dealing with that. but, for the time being, it is only an annoyance, again, not a deal breaker. 3. Last real issue is that when the coat is zipped up all the way, it fits pretty tight around your mouth and nose, and is pretty stiff and hard. Uncomfortable even. now, I dont usually zip mine up all the way. I typically use a neck wrap of some kind, so not a huge issue. Thats all really. A great coat that I would recommend.

Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, really warm
Cons: Cost, some odd design features at this price point
