Setting a new standard for multisport shoes, the Columbia Men's Talus Ridge Outdry Hiking Shoes are a cross between burly hiking boots and lightweight trail running sneakers. With an upper made from breathable mesh and durable leather, your feet stay securely locked down with the adjustable lacing system and welded TPU overlays. Wrapping your foot in waterproof breathable protection is an OutDry® membrane to keep them dry as you hike, climb, splash and scramble in any weather conditions. These Columbia Sportswear shoes have a Techlite® midsole to provide support and cushion and an Omni-Grip® rubber outsole for traction on and off the trail. If you want to carry a little weight on your back for a fast-and-light overnight trip into the wilderness, a shank system in the midsole gives you the support of a heavier shoe without sacrificing supple flexibility for a natural stride. From a day hike in the Goat Rocks Wilderness to a weekend circumnavigation of Mt Hood, the versatile Columbia Talus Ridge Outdry Hiking Shoes will keep your feet happy so the only limiting factor is how many calories you packed in your food bag.

  • Upper: combination leather, textile and welded TPU upper for lockdown stability
  • Waterproof, breathable membrane: OutDry® protection
  • Midsole: full length Techlite® under foot cushioning and support midsole
  • Outsole: Omni-Grip® rubber outsole for versatility
  • Weight per shoe: 14.8 oz, 419 g (size 9)

Great shoe for a great value
August 01, 2012

I'm incredibly happy with this shoe. I was going to pay a little bit more to get the shoe with red in the trim, but I decided the value on this shoe was perfect and couldn't be passed up for what I thought was a slightly better looking shoe. These shoes let your feet breathe and they keep your feet dry (even in a downpour). I have not tested its ability to keep your feet dry underwater, but in a rain that might as well have been equivalent to jumping in a pool with my shoes on, my foot was bone-dry when the clouds cleared. If you are on the fence about this show, don't be. Also, I read reviews advising people to buy a half-size up --- I wouldn't again if I decided to buy these once more. I bought an 11 instead of a 10.5 per the reviews, and my shoe is a little big. However, when hiking, you want that extra space for the hike down and the beating on your feet. Enjoy, and good-outdoors'n!

Excellent shoes for hiking
October 12, 2012

I like this brand for many years. All of my out doors are Columbia. When I arrived the US, I want to buy a shoe for autumn and winter. I bought this shoe 40 days ago. From last week I started to wear because the wether turns cold. This shoes are also very comfortable for long distance hiking and daily wearing. It has a high capacity to keep keep you feet warm. The price is reasonable. It's a best choice for everyone who want an outdoor hiking shoe.

So Far So Good
July 19, 2012

Just moved to Seattle and wanted a wet weather running shoe. Read many reviews across the net that described these shoes as runners as well as hikers, so I decided to give them a try. Columbia site states that shoes are sized appropriately, but I found on many other sites that you should purchase 1/2 size larger. I took that advice and am happy that I did. Received the shoes yesterday and went for 4 miles this morning, in dry conditions. Initially, shoes felt a little stiff (I read similar elsewhere so was not surprised) but within a mile felt nice. Laces stayed tied the whole run, and feet did not ache during. Finished the run blister/hot spot free, and satisfied with my purchase. Looking forward to some wet weather now, and some trail running with these shoes.
