Just receive this pant today. fit perfectly. really like the design that you could wear your jeans inside,and you also could reach the pockets of your pants inside this one. This pants will work for my trip to alaska in June. love it!

Fabric is smooth and sturdy, repels water perfectly. Well designed pockets make you organize things easily. And Altrec shipped them lightening fast. Nothing at all to complain. Only wish fabric could be softer. Overall a great buy!

I bought the pants to match a jacket I bought last year. I use it as rainwear for golfing and the pants (and jacket) pack really well in a ziplock bag. Length is a little long, I even used the live chat and asked if I should get the short version instead of the regular length pants. I told him my insean (30) and he said the regulars should be fine. The XL regulars are baggy enough to comfortably go over your clothes with no restriction in movement. I golfed in a light drizzle for three hours, I was completely dry except for the pocket openings. The pass through pockets are a good idea, but need zippers or maybe snaps to keep the water out when walking or sitting. Overall very happy for the price.

As always, when buying Columbia you get a quality product. The fit chart they list is great, the fit was perfect. This rain gear is great and with altrec the price is even better.

Purchased these Columbia Thunderstorm 2 pants for an upcoming backpacking trip expecting some possible showers. These performed excellently, acting as a good water proof outer layer when the rain came down, but also as an extra cozy layer when nighttime temperatures dipped below comfortable. Since water beaded right off, I was able to take of the Thunderstorm 2's, give them a good shake, and put them back on immediately after. While I held initial reservations about the 'pass through pockets', water never really seemed to leak (at least significantly) through the pockets and onto my layers below. While heavier showers might exploit the flaws in the design of the pass through pockets, I found the pockets, and the Thunderstorm pants overall, to be perfectly adequate for mild to moderate rain (I even wear mine around the house on rainy days).

I bought these for my golf rain gear and couldn't be happier. For the price that they charge at other places this was a steal. Very good in the rain, haven't been drenched yet but it looks like it'll hold well in a down pour. Fit is a little long but fine at the waist, layers well when I have to pull these out on top of pants/shorts.

Good lightweight pants for rainy day dog walking. Wore with a rain jacket and boots and stayed very dry. Only my hands and face got a little wet since they were the only parts not covered. The one thing that kept it from getting five stars is the through pockets. Great if you're wearing pants underneath, but a velcro or button closure would be nice for when you're not. We have warmer rain days here in Southern California where just the rain pants by itself is more than enough. Being breathable is a big plus on those warmer rain days. A rear pocket or two would also have been nice. A few minor things, but the price was right!

Guess what? It's rains a lot in the Pacific NW. With my new job I'm outside often. This will be a perfect addition to my waterproof shoes and jackets. The comfort and quality are second to none. Too early to attest to its durability, but from the look and feel it, too, will be highly rated. I can't recall how I found Altrec, but in two weeks have already made several purchases. Great prices and shipping costs. Thank you Altrec.

Stayed dry rafting on the Colorado river and pulling up camp in the rain. Fit loose enough you can really move around but not so baggy they get in the way. Perfect for active days in the rain.

Last weekend I was at 9000 feet. It rained/snowed the whole time. I wore fleece pants with the Thunderstorm 2's over the top, I was warm and dry the whole trip.
