nice good looking jacket
March 22, 2012
I got this jacket for my brother and he loves this jacket so much, the color, the way it fits, and lightweight...it's a graet jacket for everything, for picnic on the beach, climing, raining and so on... I would recommend this to my friends and family. It"s a perfect gift for everyone.
Pros: Great design, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valueNice waterproof Jacket
February 26, 2012
I like this jacket and purchased it to have a light weight, waterproof jacket. It certainly is that. I like Columbia brand gear and would recommend it to a friend. My only complaint, and it's a small one at that, is that it seems to run a bit big (baggy). It is not fitted and has straight sides. The "cinch cord" they give you for the waist doesn't stay tight. Time will tell if this goes from good to great, but so far I do like it.
Best jacket ever
February 19, 2012
I bought this jacket to hike a rainny mountain in Colombia, its performance was excellent, it didn't let the water in. It has useful pocket which keep your thing dry. Omni-Tech technology is the best technology ever, you can walk with comfort and it will keep you fresh. Nice color, nice shell and definitely nice jacket!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueExactly what I wanted
February 13, 2012
My old Columbia rain jacket finally died after 15+ years of abuse. I wore it every time I needed a jacket. During the winter, I used it as a shell and layered. During the summer, I used it as a rain jacket. Spring and fall, it was my constant companion. Hiking, camping and even walking across campus, it was either on me or stuffed in my pack. This replacement jacket seems to have the same quality and I expect the same durability as my old one.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuePerfect jacket
January 27, 2012
I really like this jacket. Good quality, comfortable material, and special design. The only thing I should mention is that size S is a little bit long for a guy as tall as 5'10''. But this is fine.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueBest Jacket for running!
January 27, 2012
I got this jacket a while ago and I'm using it to run in the cold morning of Portland and it's great! It will protect you perfect from the wind and the rain, no so much from the cold but since you are working out that's ok. Very recommended to do sports in cold temperatures.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Great valueGreat jacket for traveling
January 23, 2012
This is the second time I've purchased this jacket. I had my first one for 5 years and it survived 2 years in Asia, camping trips, day hikes, bus rides in Laos, and any other torture I could put it through. It only died when I lent it to a friend who dried it on high heat and basically melted some of the fabric on the arms. I primarily bought this jacket for traveling abroad, as it's lightweight and packable, which makes for a perfect pillow on overnight bus/train trips, if you get cold on a long flight, or if you're stuck on a slow-moving ferry. I used it during the rainy season while teaching in Thailand and Laos, and it kept me dry, yet allowed me to remain cool in the hot, humid conditions. As previous reviewers noted, the jacket fits large, which makes sense since you can use the jacket for an outer shell if you're traveling or living in cold climates. I'm 6'2" 170 pounds, and the jacket fits me just right, not too tight or baggy. Other competing companies probably sell comparable products, but in this category at least, I've only owned a Columbia and it's an awesome jacket. I highly recommend it.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, packable, comfortableGreat Features
January 16, 2012
I was looking for a rain jacket for the Southern California climate and this is it. Sizing is a tad on the larger side but it fits great over a sweater or sweatshirt. I am an active 5'11", 215 with a 44-46 chest a alrge is my size. It is a legitimate waterproof and windproof jacket and I strongly recommend its purchase.
Pros: Great design, Great value, PerformanceBest for Teen boy!
January 04, 2012
Excellent for the price. He loves it and will wear it in the coldest, snowy and wet days in the mid-west. Teen boys love it. What can I say, as a mom, I want him to be dry!!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueWorthy buy
December 29, 2011
This is my first purchase on Altrec and it has made a very good first impression. The watertight jacket truly is waterproof. I have yet to put it to the test, but by feeling the nylon material, I'm sure it'll live up to its name; the nylon weave is very tight. The only thing I hope that can be changed is the fit. I bought a small and it was still I little big and I'm roughly 130lb and 5'9". However, this allows me to wear sweater underneath. Overall, this is a great purchase.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGreat rain jacket-fits a little large
December 29, 2011
I bought this jacket for my brother for Christmas. I read several reviews that recommended ordering a size smaller since the jacket runs a little large. According to the sizing chart, my brother would wear a medium (5'5", 145 lbs) because he is broad chested; however, I decided on the small per the reviews. It ended up fitting him perfectly. Plus, the red color looked great. My brother works in construction, so he was happy to have a good rain jacket.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valuegreat jacket
December 27, 2011
Bought this for my husband and sons, and they love it . Very light and comfortable , ordered it a bit larger so they can wear hevy sweatshirts underneath. Loved the price as well.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueColumbia Watertight Jacket
December 21, 2011
Great jacket to wear when going out in cool, rainy weather. Obviously not designed for cold weather as it is just a waterproof shell, but it performs exactly as it is supposed to; repels the water, keeps you dry, and blocks the wind. Great value, great quality and fits well (I am 6 feet tall).
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valueGreat Lightweight Rain Jacket
December 21, 2011
I bought this rain jacket for walking/hiking with my dog on rainy days. Jacket arrived just in time for a nice rain storm. Gave it a good test, and it kept me bone dry while out in the rain for several hours. Also turns out to be pretty good at blocking wind. Jacket has plenty of adjustments to help keep the weather out. Did not expect much from the small soft visor on the hood, though it did surprise me with how well it actually worked. This jacket is also doubling well as simple shell layer on chilly windy mornings where the wind will cut through my thinner fleece jackets/pull over. Just do not expect the pockets to keep your hands warm. It also packs down to a very reasonable size, making it easy to stow or carry. The only complaint I have is very minimal; the XL is fairly large on my frame (6Â’ 220lbs). However, this does allow it to fit over many layers or a thick jacket on cold days. IÂ’m very happy with this purchase, and plan to buy a second in a smaller size for the warmer months. Columbia very rarely disappoints.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of usewaterproof
December 19, 2011
as soon as i got my order i had put it on and went outside. it is light kind of feels good even in the cold weather you just put it on other jacket or sweaters inside and put it on this if its raining you are safe and if you dont want it wear after a while just take it off and put pull in you bag when you fold it it becomes very smal. what about waterproofness i did checked it by putting water on it and the waterdrops just rolled away. i think for the price it worthy and especially altrec.com has its 30% off on this item. it is nice
Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueAptly Named Jacket
November 27, 2011
I bought the Columbia watertight jacket for the versatility it offered in terms of warmth and protection. I have not been disappointed. I wore it to a rainy football game and it shed water all day. I was dry and warm with my underneath layers of clothing. As noted by others it fits slightly larger than expected, but that is a blessing that allows sweaters or a sweatshirt and turtleneck to be worn under it. It is packable, although I have not done so yet. The lining breathes and no condensation occurred inside the jacket. I have had good luck with Columbia products and the price level of this coat was too enticing to pass up. I can't comment on durability as I have used it only a couple of months. If you need a lightweight coat that is waterproof, this is your choice.
Pros: Performance, Great value, lightweightKeeps you Dry
November 09, 2011
This jacket has alot of good things about it. Very breathable and will keep the water out in sprinkles to medium rain. I use it for the daily commute to work. Can't beat this deal.
good for the price
November 03, 2011
i haven't had a chance to try it in a heavy down pour but in light rain it worked as expected. the sleeves don't have mesh so if you exert your self , while wearing short sleeves, condinsation will build up . wish the hood stowed in the collar. worth the price.
Pros: Build quality, Great valueMen's Watertight Jacket
October 19, 2011
I bought this jacket for my husband, and he loved it very much. We live in Houston. The weather here is somehow humid in the morning. My husband wore this jacket quite often. It is watertight and durable, it is designed using Omni-Tech fabric which is breathable and keeps him warm and dry while he is walking dogs. Highly recommended.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat Price and quality
October 06, 2011
Nice jacket. It's cut a size larger than normal. The hood is good, and stays in place and won't blow up in the wind. Soft material. It looks packable but I haven't tried to pack it yet. I will be using this to commute to work when it rains.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueGood Purchase, wish it was thicker!!!
September 29, 2011
The jacket was nice, I wish it was alittle thicker, but my son's love it so I am happy!!! Really good for the price!!! Package was delivered on time, totally satisfied and I would recommended the jacket for purchase.
Pros: PerformanceDoes not breathe
September 28, 2011
Well this jacket is sold as watertight, and it certainly is -- in both directions. It kept me dry from the rain, but within 5 minutes of putting it on, I begin to overheat and sweat. The sleeves are only partially lined, and the feel of the fabric clinging to my lower arms is very unpleasant. On the plus side, it seems to be well made (I've only had it a short while), and it is compact. Size definitely runs large -- I am 5'7" 180 lbs., and medium is pretty big on me. I'm glad I looked at the reviews and didn't order a large.
Pros: water proof, compactsizing is a little off
September 27, 2011
The jacket seems to be cut a bit large. The sleeves seemed disproportionately long. I am an average sized man and ordered a medium jacket. I should have gotten a small. Other than that, it seems like a very nice jacket. Hasn't been worn yet in the rain, so not sure about the waterproof features.
columbia rain jacket
September 27, 2011
This was a great purchase at a great price. The jacket is lightweight and will protect you from a cool breeze or a heavy rain. Perfect for fall weather. My husband loves it. The fit is true to size.
Size was way too big
September 12, 2011
jacket looks good and light. However, I need to return it because the size was way too big. My boyfriend is 5'11 and 165lbs, athletic build. He usually wears Large in everything. Got him a large in this jacket and fits like an XL. Will need to return and get him a Medium. Other than that, we didn't really get to try it out. I did notice that it can be packed into a small built in pocket.
July 16, 2011
Coat is an overall great purchase. I am six foot tall and 250#. I ordered my usual XXL size and it was too big, a size down to XL was perfect. The coat in black is dressy enough to wear out for most occasions.
Pros: Build quality, Great value, PerformanceBest packable rain jacket for the money
July 12, 2011
I had the opportunity to field test this jacket just a few days after it arrived. After 60-minutes in a downpour and other 90-minutes in a gentle mist, my cotton t-shirt remained perfectly dry. It lives up to its Watertight name. It is silky soft inside and very comfortable. The loops on the Velcro wrist closures are long enough that the hook side docks in a full open position for ventilation. The hood does not come off. Some have panned that but I list it as a must have feature. The jacket stores easily into its own pocket for packing. It's a bit bigger package than other rain shells I've had - probably due to the lining. I'm usually right between a size Large and X-Large depending on the brand. This jacket in a Large fits perfectly with room for a medium weight hooded sweatshirt underneath. I replaced a worn out Marmot jacket that was an XL (I can't wear a Marmot Large). The length is perfect for my 5’-11” height.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valuegreat jacket
June 21, 2011
It's really a great jacket, with very high quality. Lightweight and waterproof. The only thing is it comes to be big. I bought a medium size but the sleeve is too long to me. I have to change to a smaller one. Anyway, it is overall a good product, I will recommend it to my friends.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valueThis Jacket Rocks!
May 29, 2011
It came really big but i loved it so much that i gave it to a friend and got a smaller one. Very durable and very comfortable. Must have for any fisherman.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueA good buy for the style and money
March 23, 2011
I bought the extra large for my son who is 5'8. He loves it because it has many pockets and it is rain proof. The size, color are just like it described. I benefited from other people's review. So, I am putting my two cents in. I just wish there were blue as well. It is a little bulky. But according to my son, it's perfect. I would recommend this jacket for teen age boys or young people.
Pros: Great design, Lasts forever, Performance, Great valueGreat Product
March 10, 2011
This was a great product that I really believe I am going to thoroughly enjoy. Altrec had very fast shipping and I will definitely order from this site again. Highly recommend!!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueGood quality.
March 09, 2011
Good quality. It fits a lit bit loose. It would be good for the rain. When it's raining, this jacket is light and waterproof, which is good for that. But don't count on it for a winter jacket.
Good jacket, good price.
March 02, 2011
I haven't had this jacket too long, so I can't say much about the durability, however it does seem to be built well. The fit is a tad big, but that is good for fitting over a fleece jacket. The pockets, zippers, and draw cords are well placed and work just fine. In the light rain I've been out in, it has kept me dry and toasty. Thumbs up!
Pros: Build quality, Great valueDoes what it says...
February 27, 2011
to keep water out. The jacket got its first major test during the recent snow in the Olympia area and it performed admirably well. This jacket also fits large which is good as I can still wear a warm coat or a suit jacket under.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great valuecolumbia watertight jacket
February 17, 2011
This is a very good jacket from columbia. It is well constructed, and complete waterproof. It fits a lit bit loose, but it is good for layering underneath. You could use it as a simple rain jacket, or as a ski jacket just putting an insulation jacket under the shell.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGood budget jacket
January 21, 2011
I have mixed feelings about this jacket... On one hand it's bulky, not superlightweight, has a zipper that gets caught too often, isn't terribly breathable, and the hood wasn't a great fit for me. On the other hand it kept me dry for a month in Iceland in late summer, where the rain comes often, abruptly, and at extreme angles due to the wind. For that I'm very grateful. And it didn't cost a lot. It's not ideal but it did the job well. First the negatives. I got a size too large, I'm 5'9", 145lb, and the jacket was very bulky on me. This would be a plus if I wore it over a down jacket, but for everyday wearing it was too big. At roughly a pound in weight, this isn't a super lightweight jacket, not compared to something like the Marmot Mica, nor does it pack small. This may be a non-issue for the average camper, but those who count every ounce will want to look elsewhere. The fabric, while waterproof, isn't very breathable. I sweated a lot. But since this was my only hardshell in Iceland, I was wearing it a lot, even when it wasn't raining. Maybe I have a small head, but I had a hard time getting the hood to sit in such a way that I could look around without it getting in the way. Maybe a size small would have solved the problem? I really dislike the zipper. It's my major gripe with this jacket. It was always getting caught on the zipper cover flap. Zipping took patience and, in most cases, two hands. I didn't often zip up on the first try. But despite these problems, this isn't a terrible jacket. It does what it was designed to do - it stops the rain. As mentioned, Iceland can be a very wet, windy place, and when those things happen at the same time the rain can come almost sideways at you. This jacket kept me quite dry when staying dry was important. My feet got wet, and my pants, but not my top! The travel guides all stressed how important good raingear is on this island. I wish I had taken the warnings more seriously, but I was lucky to have gotten a Watertight jacket. It feels durable as well. A lighter expensive jacket might be more prone to tearing, but I didn't mind taking this one through bushes and up rocky slopes, or stuffing it in my pack. I don't think I managed to damage it in a whole month. When I bought the Columbia Watertight I didn't know how important a good rain jacket can be, and I wasn't going to pay much for one. It was cheap and had really good reviews, so I bought it. My next jacket will be something lighter and more breathable and about $90, like a Marmot Mica, but I think I lucked out at the time by choosing a jacket that turned out to be, in fact, Watertight. I would recommend this jacket for those seeking a solid, cheap jacket that will keep them dry, those who have patience with zippers and aren't concerned about bulk.
Pros: Build quality, Performance, Great valueGreat!
January 09, 2011
This Columbia jacket is really great. Perfect for camping and definitely hand when the rain comes. Great price too!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great valueColumbua Rain Jacket
December 26, 2010
This jacket is awesome. It really is water and wind proof and does a great job keeping me warm and dry when I am walking around campus on a rainy day- I would definitely recommend this jacket. It's also large enough to wear a fleece underneath for colder weather activities like skiing.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueFabulous Gift for the Outdoorsman!
December 26, 2010
I purchased this item as a gift for my father, whom immediately put it to use the next day. He wore this jacket on an early morning fishing outing with semi-threatening clouds, which released an occasional light drizzle. His shirt underneath stayed dry through the Florida rain, and the jacket was light enough to wear once the sun came out and the cool air disappeared. The wind, however, continued to whip slightly, but he claimed that it did not penetrate through. He loves that it is breathable, and does not have the frightening thin fabric and paper-like texture that so many waterproof lightweight jackets have nowadays. He raves about the quality, that he is unafraid that he may rip it like others he’s owned that proved to be too delicate, and I am currently considered his favorite child. The fit runs slightly large, but I don’t think it is supposed to be a body-hugging wind-blocker. My father is 5’8” and 160lbs, and the medium fits him comfortably. He especially loves that the front/side pockets are equipped with zippers, and that the hood has a cord to close it around his face, but still has a bill to shield him from the grueling morning sun. If you have never experienced Florida weather you may not know that the sun can be brightly shining with rain sprinkling you concurrently! Annoyingly beautiful to my father, an intermediate fisherman, this jacket made the perfect gift…and my father is not one to be easily pleased. A definite score of five stars for quality, comfort, performance, and durability!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great valueGreat basic shell
December 17, 2010
This is an excellent purchase if you are looking for a nice basic rain shell. It doesn't have a bunch of techie zippers and features the fiddle with, just good rain protection and a decent hood. I have worn it in some sporadic showers so far, with no leaks to report. The size runs smaller that I would have expected... On my 5'8" 170lb frame, it fits a little too snug if you are layering with a fleece. Move up a size if you want to wear any insulating layers other than the shirt on your back. Great value in a basic outer layer.
Pros: Great value
