Description

Fully waterproof and breathable, the Columbia Alpine Alliance Parka for women is insulated alpine outerwear that's ideal for skiing in a range of cold weather conditions. It features a three-in-one configuration with a zip-in insulating jacket that you can wear inside the shell on wet days, or wear separately when the sun is out. The seam-sealed outer shell has a waterproof and breathable Omni-Tech® fabric that keeps water and wind out while allowing a moderate degree of vapor to escape from inside the jacket. Up top is an attached hood that's fully adjustable and sized to accommodate most skiing helmets on the market today. If you tend to ski later in the season, you'll appreciate the zippered underarm venting for convenient cooling in sunny conditions. The inner insulating jacket features a chest pocket and two zippered handwarmer pockets.

Great Jacket!
January 25, 2011

Very warm, well designed jacket. Lots of features and less bulky than I expected. Fitted design, so order a size higher than you normally would to have room for a sweater or layering shirt underneath. Perfect for everyday use (from running errands to snow sports).

The reason I bought this jacket is because I have really long arms and I get tired of my sleeves being too short. Also, there are extra long cuffs on the liner jacket with thumb holes, and they help keep your hands even warmer. :) It really warm and does keep you dry when you're out in wet conditions. The only reason why I didn't give this jacket five stars is because some of the seams on the liner jacket aren't that strong. Other than that, it is a great jacket.

Awesome!

This coat is perfect for Michigan weather. It's true to size, waterproof, and the perfect for skiing or snowboarding. The material is sleek, different from any coat I've had but I love it. The thumb holes in the sleeve are great for keeping drafts out. LOVE THIS COAT!

Great Ski Jacket!
January 31, 2011

This is a fitted jacket. I would have liked it a tad bigger, but I felt fine on the slopes with enough room to breathe. I'm 5'5", 115 lbs, and I ordered an XS. So I would say it's true to size but if you're between sizes maybe order up. My core stayed dry and warm, but I've used it skiing for 2 days in blistery cold, snowy Vermont, so on the chair lift I was feeling draft come through the neck and the wrists. I probably could have prevented that by layering differently. One more thing, I love the idea of the wrist gaiter, but when i put on my ski gloves, the fabric DUG into that skin webbing between my thumb and index finger, so much that it hurt and I ended up taking that off. Plus the stitching now looks stretched in that area. That's the only thing i would change...more padding and stronger stitching at the wrist gaiter!

Happy with Colombia
February 08, 2011

Tried on a ton of jackets, Nils, Burton, North Face, Roxy, Patagonia and settled on a Colombia jacket. I am new to skiing and had a hard time finding something somewhat stylish and functional. I have long arms and will always buy a tall if it is available. The Colombia jackets all seemed to be generous in sleeve length. I really compared this jacket against the Colombia Minky Mogul and did prefer the fleece insert for that jacket the best but this jacket was a little more slim fitting in the torso and therefore a bit more attractive. I also preferred the Tarte color over the Black Cherry.

Pros: Build quality, Great value

Not in love with this jacket
January 29, 2012

My old Columbia 3-in-1 jacket is still in decent shape, so I had to really love this jacket to justify getting a new one this year. The color, fabric & construction on this one were nice, with many great features: very warm, thumbholes in the inner cuffs, good fabrics & construction, lots of pockets. Price was reasonable. Here's what I didn't like: liner jacket's cuffs w/ thumbholes were REALLY tight, to the point of being uncomfortable. Despite nice color (the green) and interesting textured shell fabric, the cut was a little boring I thought. Could have used some princess seaming or something to look less shapeless. Main complaint was the inner liner was so short so that it didn't look good on its own. ALso just a note that the jacket ran extremely large. I'm 5'6" 125 lbs and the XS was really swimming on me. So I sent it on back. I liked it, but not well enough... better luck next year.

Great buy for the price
November 03, 2010

I searched long and hard for a nice winter coat and just happened to stumble upon this one. I love the OmniTech design that Columbia Sportswear has, it keeps you warm while not cooking you at the same time. I have not had it out in the rain as of yet, but my husband also has a OmniTech coat by Columbia and he has put in through the test and come out dry as a bone. I can't wait. The coat is comparable to other well known brands but at a much lower cost. So you are getting the same performance and quality without having to spend "well known brand" money. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone seeking a great 3-in-1 coat at a reasonable price.

Quality Coat
January 03, 2011

Very sturdy coat with a very flexible shell. Inner lining is close-fitting, cute and not puffy, like some insulated liners that look like you've wrapped yourself in a sleeping bag. This one fits very well and allows you to show off your figure while staying warm. Outer shell is stylish and doesn't make you look like a ski tourist. Very low-key and modern. Love the internal wrist gaiter-can't say enough about that and don't know why more winter jackets don't use them. Coat seems to fit a little large, but I'm 5'0 and weigh 100 lbs soaking wet, so everything fits large on me-probably more of a true-to-size fit for most people. Very comfortable and moveable, not stiff or bulky. I've tried several Columbia coats and feel this one is a bargain-kept me just as warm as the Frosty Forest Parka for a lower cost. Great coat!

Great Purchase
December 06, 2010

I was in desperate need of a new winter coat and wanted to make sure I would get something that would last me a long time. I love that the inner layer of this coat is not fleece unlike many other Columbia coats. I feel like this will help my coat to last longer and will keep it from getting that gross "pilly" look. It is a very warm coat. I think this is a coat you can wear to work and still look a little "dressy" as opposed to looking like your headed to the ski slopes like other Columbia coats. My only complaint is that the inner layer sleeves are really long (I'm 5' 9" and have long limbs), but I can live with this one issue because everything else about it is great. I was able to by this coat from Altrec for a cheaper price than what I could find in any store and there was free shipping. I'm all about saving a few bucks while getting a great product!

Smart Purchase
April 17, 2011

I bought this jacket earlier this winter and I love it! From skiing to a night out on the town this jacket works. The jacket shell, worn by itself, is extremely warm and waterproof; while the inner jacket has a nice sleek/fashionable design for wearing around town. For maximum warmth wear the shell and the inner jacket together. The thumb holes on the inner jacket are a nice feature and prevent wind/rain/snow from blowing up your sleeves. However, be careful when taking the jacket off as the inner jacket sleeve (attaches to the shell by snaps and a thread loop) thread loops can rip easily. Another, great feature of this jacket are the air vent zippers under the arms. They keep you cool on the slopes when the sun is beaming down on the snow. The quality of the jacket is excellent. I've worn it everyday for the last 3 months and it still looks brand new.

well made but order 2 sizes bigger
December 25, 2010

Jacket is well made and looks nice but recommend ordering 1 size bigger if you want to wear a sweater under it. I own an older Columbia parker- also a size XL- fits perfect with a sweater or sweat shirt under it. The new ones seem to be made a lot smaller in the armpit and sleeve area. My old one is made in Thailand. The new one is made in Vietnam. This could be the reason for the extreme difference in sizing. I am returning the new one.
