Great Hiking Pants
September 27, 2011
I have been looking for a sturdy hiking pant with a non-baggy, but comfortable fit. The Dolomites fill this bill. They are light weight, but built like tank armor. They have wicking and sun protection features that are a must in pants that work hard and spend long hours on the trail. I wear a size 8 in some Columbia pants and a 10 in others, so I gambled on ordering size 10 and this worked out perfectly. There is a hidden elastic adjustment band inside the back waist that may come in handy, especially with lengthy thru-hikes where weight drops off quickly. Though I'm from the old school of regular rise, the below the waist rise on the Dolomites actually feels quite good and eliminates binding at the waist. It's also nice to feel attractive and neat in the pants without the circus clown effect of many hiking pants. The length is just right for my 5'6" height and I think they have enough length to fit taller women. I would love to have a tab to roll the pants up, but then it's hard to find all features in one pair of pants and there is a little vent pocket on the left upper leg of these. Can't wait to take them on the trail, but find them very nice for general wear at this time. I am very pleased with this purchase.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Great value

These are great pants. I love that they are stylish enough to wear to work, comfortable enough to pretend I'm not at work, and need minimal ironing. I have to dress business casual and these totally fit the bill without feeling underdressed and yet remain comfortable.Pros: Great design

My pants just arrived. I am usually a size 4, so I ordered that and a size 6. I tried both sizes on and hated them both. These pants are too tight for hiking in the summer! They fit like yoga pants, way too fitted for the serious hiking I do in the heat. I hate hiking in pants that cling to my bottom and thighs. They seem like they are well made, just definitely not for me. They are light and would be better for traveling.Pros: Build quality, Cons: Bad design
