The inside lining is metallic black/ silver, I guess to radiate back your heat. I am not into it. I just wanted a simple vest, which it is so close to being! The metallic lining can be seen when you have it unzipped or even up in the collar when you do have it zipped, also around the arm holes.

This is a great vest. I love the Omni-warmth (I can definitely notice it while wearing the vest) and have had no problems with the shiny silver liner being noticeable while wearing it. However, as other reviewers have mentioned, it is "disco ball" shiny when you take it off and can be a bit of a conversation starter. I'm 5'7", 140lbs, large bust, and the medium fits perfectly. The vest is very light and comfortable - good length (falls below the waist), and flattering fit. I haven't tried packing it down for backpacking yet, but have worn it on some mountain hikes in PA this winter and it kept me nice and toasty. and the color is beautiful too. I currently have the adriatic (forest green), and am mulling over getting another in blue. Definitely a great deal when compared to prices of other similar vests! Can't speak to it's longevity, but I have always had good success with Columbia products.

I almost loved this vest. It's nice and thin, but still sturdy and warm. The blue color is beautiful. But Columbia has lined it with their omni-heat layer and it's this crazy, gaudy silver disco ball effect that is just way to visible - even just the little bit when the collar is open is too distracting and tacky for me, so unfortunately I think it's going back.
