I purchased these shorts a year ago in preparation for a trip to the Grand Canyon. I absolutely love them! Shorts that fit just slightly below the waist with a little elastic band in the back are extremely comfortable. They are very light weight and the nylon material allow them to dry quickly, which I found perfect for hiking. I wish I had bought a few more for that trip. I am a size 8, but I ordered a 10 and was glad I did. It gave me a little extra room, without being baggie. I was happy with the fit.

Overall, a nice pair of shorts, but the fit was kind of strange. I ordered a size 6 with 4" inseam. The waist was large, but the legs were snug. I'm 5'6", 135 average to athletic build. Perhaps the longer inseam would be better. I've worn many Columbia shorts/pants - often, a larger waist than the size would suggest.

I like the length of the short. The material is stretchy and is comfortable. The fit is really good. The waist isn't too big and the legs stay down when walking. They have nice big pockets.

These are nicely made shorts; great material and great pockets, but the 6" inseam seems short. They will make good hiking and boating shorts for women less modest than me!
