Fits large 3-ring binders! Nice, BIG pack!

My middle-school kids need to carry a heavy, 3 inch, 3-ring binder to school every day. This backpack fits that with much room to spare, and still has space for lunch, a couple textbooks, a music stand, and a 15" laptop. (I'm guessing it actually holds a lot more than the kids can carry!) I looked at several other brands of backpack, but either the width was too narrow to fit large binders or the bottom material and zippers felt flimsy, even on packs of comparable volume. This pack feels solid but not stiff, fabric is thick and reinforced, zippers are chunky, and the padding in the laptop slip-pocket is pretty good. My 13" mac moves around a bit too much in the pocket, but a 15" would fit perfectly. Not a deal breaker--just will use an extra case to take up space. Our main reason for buying was (the great price!) and the large, central compartment rather than a pack that's highly organized with many pockets. This is a good mix--a VERY large center compartment separate from the cooler pocket and a (fleece-lined) tech accessories and sunglasses pocket. If you like having a pocket or compartment for every last thing, this is probably not your best choice, although it is certainly functional for most. Our second reason for buying was the presence of a sternum strap to stabilize a heavy load on a skinny kid, and this performs well and adjusts easily. Overall, a great bag for middle- high school and college students, or for packing for a weekend trip. Unless you're also packing clothes for the gym, this pack in the 33 lg would likely be overkill for daily commuting, and the lack of a separately-accessible laptop compartment might bother some who need easy-access for frequent travel. Additionally, it's a bit large and long for those of us who are height-challenged!

this backpack seems so HUGE to me, but I got it for my boyfriend whose old giant backpack was wearing out big time. His only complaint is that it doesnt have enough organizing space, although that is because the old pack had about 15 zippers on it. Otherwise, holds a large laptop easily and seems pretty strong. The black one is nice and sleek looking.

I purchased this backpack almost a year ago to use for college. I am a science major and carry around a lot of big books every day. It has taken a lot of abuse and still looks great! The front pocket that is lined is a lifesaver to carry my lunch in on those long days on campus. It gets heavy, but distributes the weight well. I would definitely purchase this again!

Very Solid Backpack

This bag fits comfortably and has plenty of room. My only complaint is that the backpack is awkwardly tall. After you fit your books in it there is still lots of room on top. I use this bag for college and my complaint is really only off personal preference. Also, one of the pockets has only one zipper so pens and pencils can slip out the side occasionally. Overall though, the bag works great.

The pack is still new, so durability is tough to judge, but the bag does seem to be made of great quality. I have always loved DaKine packs. I still have the one I got over 10 years ago and other than the zipper separating from the bag, it is a solid back. I'm excited to have a backpack that I can carry my laptop in and still have space for plenty of other things. The bag is much bigger than I expected, as I was imagining something more of the size of a laptop bag. This is actually a regular sized backpack with a padded divider for the laptop. Plus, bought it on sale. Can't beat the price.

Great purchase

My 7th grader picked this out. Today was the first day of school and he loved having this pack. He said it has very comfortable shoulder pads. The organizing section with pockets is great for all his small items but the inside is large and roomy for all his books and such. I loved the insulated front pocket. It will be great for cold snacks on days when he is buying school lunch.

this is actually my 2nd dakine laptop backpack - it replaces my previous one whose zipper broke after 2+ years of everyday abuse. great look, very big, very light - i love this bag!

Nice backpack for teens

This is a great backpack for a teen that has to carry loads of books and papers to school. It has strong and comfortable padding along the straps and lots of room inside. We ordered the all-black pack and are very happy with it.

My 5th grade girls must carry @ 35-40lbs load, daily. If you're looking for a flimsy featherweight, choose another bag. Rugged material, This thing is built for LARGE, SUPER weight- loads, Yet so balanced that it "lightens" a very heavy load...kids are EXTREMELY happy!! They walk 1/2 mile to school, now WELL paded/supported. All at such a GREAT PRICE!!

Picked up one of the large size a few weeks ago and it's the best computer backpack I've had! It's pretty big and has several different zippered pockets, plus 2 mesh outer pockets. With all that compartmentalized space it's easy to organize everything! And the large inside sleeve for the computer keeps it protected, with plenty of room in the main pocket for the power cord, papers, and whatever else needs to go along. My laptop is 15" and this fits it perfectly with a little room to spare. It seems to be well made and durable too!

Excellent Pack

This pack has exceeded my expectations. I have a laptop with a 17" screen and it fits perfectly in the pack, with room to spare for a binder and multiple textbooks. I wear it riding my motorbike to work, so far its stood up to 100+ km/h. No issues with any zippers, all the pockets are functional and well sized. Really, I would have paid double for this pack, its that bomber.

I've had this backpack for 2 years and it still works like I bought it yesterday. The capacity is has and the durability of the fabric make it perfect for just about anything. I take it to school, I take it on the plane when I travel, I take it anywhere that I know I'll need to bring lots of stuff.

I purchased this pack for school. I was most concerned with laptop storage, convenience and comfort. I could not be more pleased with this pack. It also works great for light travel. I was surprised on the large size, but for an average size male... it works great (size:Large).
