I recently purchased the DaKine Heli Pro 20L Backpack and have nothing but great praise for it. I have not used the ski straps yet but will in a week or so in Alta. The trial dry run seems to work out fine and it carries everything you need for a day trip. Installled the cambelback water system and it fits and works perfectly

I've owned and used the Dakine Heli Pack for quite a while now, having purchased it out of necessity during a trip to Chamonix, France. Always a bit on the short side for space and features, I finally upgraded to the bigger brother in the family, the Heli Pro. This is the full meal deal. More space, more storage options, more features, multiple carry options, everything I wanted in the original, smaller Heli Pack (which still has its uses). If you've got a small pack or no pack and are looking to get ahold of a pack useful for carrying onto airlines as well as stowing your backcountry gear for those powder-packed off-piste days, this is the bag for you!!

The last Dakine pack I Bought was 8 yrs ago. So I needed a new one,why would I get any other kind. My new pack looks like it could last at least 10 years.Ive got nothing but kudos for the Dakine people and thier prouducts 5's all around.

Reliable straps and zippers, the board harness is easy to use, great for back country as well as hauling around campus. Its a great pack altogether.

This is my second Heli-Pro. The first one lasted six years in which I took it backcountry skiing in whyoming and utah, mountain climbing in yosemite, and tree climbing in the high sierras. I dropped it out of trees thirty feet up with twenty pounds of gear. I was at first skeptical with all the bells and whistles on this one, but unlike most of the BS that I buy, they are purposeful. The fleece lined goggles pocket is an especially nice touch. The beefed up ski tote is also going to come in handy. This may seem like a pricey backpack, but it is worth every cent.

When I talked w/ Altrec ppl, they told me this pack is exactly same as the women's 20L except the women's pack gives you more choice in color. Well, I ordered this one because I really like one of the color that's not offered in the women's pack.
When the bag arrive, I was very excited. The material was nice and there are a lot of useful functions. The waist clip I'm not so sure about because the way it is designed, you HAVE to clip it on your waist or it'll go "dangling" on the side. Overall the design and material are pretty good. (But, the part where you put the hydro-pack in is a bit on the flimsy. It only has one little clip on the back to clip the hydro pack and you put the hydro pack in a thin layer of plastic flap. )
I love this backpack...
BUT...the big BUT...this backpack was HUGE on me (I'm 5'4) so I called Altrec back and the lady said there is a difference between the Men's 20L and Women's 20L. The lady was nice enough to send me a return slip for free since I was mislead.
Well, I just recently put in an order for a 16L Women's pack...and I still have high hopes...Crossing my finger now~~
