Great Bag, Great service
January 19, 2012

I bought this bag originally from a ski shop near my house to be able to mount my skis on . A few days later I found the pack on altrec for 30% less. I was hesitant to order the bag from an online company because I was not sure if I will get the right color or get it in time for my ski trip to Colorado. But, my friend told me that he has had a good experience in the past with altrec and they stand behind their products. So I purchased the bag and it arrived as promised and on time. Great experience.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, insulated water line for water pack

Great Light Backpack
June 23, 2011

Excellent back pack. Solid build. DaKine spent some time to design it well. There is a choice to carry the board vertically or horizontally (this is handy if you intend to use snowmobile). One thing this bag is missing is ability to access your stuff from back. like on DaKine PRO II. More brighter colors would be nice too

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
Cons: no back access

Does what I need it to do
June 16, 2011

I wanted this pack because it is the only one I could find that would carry a pair of skis AND a snowboard at the same time. This pack enables me to carry my wife's board into the backcountry, keeping her pack lighter. The horizontal snowboard feature has a nice benefit of acting like an internal frame which makes carrying the extra weight easier.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

Quality bag
May 29, 2011

This bag is well designed for day-hiking. I can easily carry my avi-gear and an extra layer without ever feeling like I'm an expedition or that I had to pack too tight. On the few occasions I've used on resorts, it's proved comfortable to use with lifts.

Great Backpack
May 02, 2011

The 20L is a regular size backpack and for what I am doing; sking and mountain biking I think I would have been a little better off to go with the 16L but on the other hand I can fit lunch, jacket, tools and a little extra when skiing. I also really like the fact I can put my hydration pack inside it; that is a nice feature. Built very well and looks awesome.

Great Pack
May 01, 2011

I bought this as it was Altrec's "deal of the day" and a very affordable price. It was replacing a Dakine pack I had for maybe 10 years. This new pack is much nicer with the water bottle holder, camera compartment, and little zipper area on the shoulder strap for my chapstick. I've used it everyday this winter (and still using it) for daily snowshoe hikes. Probably the best purchase I've made this winter.

Only one
February 11, 2011

I purchased this product solely due to the fact that it was the only one that fit the description that I was looking for. It turned out to be better than I imagined. The horizontal carry feature is great for when you're stashing it while doing so snowmobiling and the option to use the vertical carry instead is great when walking off the ski resort. Now there are many bags in Dakine's line that have these features, but usually it's either one or the other unless you have the Dakine Heli Pro DLX, otherwise you're stuck with a vertical carry. I liked the option to do one or the other. Another feature I was looking for was one which featured a way to hydrate myself as nothing kills a day at the slopes than running in to the lodge to get a drink because you're thirsty. Or holding onto a bulky water bottle. Only wish that they included the hydration kit along with it instead of having to purchase it separately. Probably the only drawback to it. Great buy.

Perfect All Around Pack!
February 06, 2011

The first thing I noticed with this pack is you can absolutely stuff clothes in to it. It's like a bottomless pit. I went out west for a 6 day trip and was able to cram all my clothes in to it. Features are endless. Vertical and horizontal board carry both work great. Board locks in to place and doesn't shift around as you hike. Goggle pocket comfortably fit my Anon Hawkeye goggles, which is one of the bigger pairs out there. My only criticism would be Dakine not including elastic strap holds (for the excess strap that hangs off when tightened) on the waist and shoulder harnesses. They included them on the board carry straps and it's a really nice feature. All in all, no complaints though. This is a really high quality pack at a very reasonable price. You won't be disappointed!

Very user-friendly!
January 18, 2011

I bought the Dakine HeliPro DLX 20L backpack for my son in-law and remember his reaction when he opened the gift Christmas morning. He looked it over and said it had EVERYTHING he needed for hiking the ridge and back country riding. That made me smile! He's used it many times already and couldn't be happier. My son is a large man and the fit of the pack is perfect for him. I'm ordering the women's Dakine HeliPro DLX 18L for my daughter today, that should tell you how pleased we are with the product.

January 11, 2011

Great pack so far. Used it to ski only one day so far (that's why I only gave 4 stars for durability) pack was great, carried all my gear to the mountain for a day trip, with my helmet in the smaller compartment. Carried a few things while on the mountain and while sinched down could sit comfortably on the chairlift w/o taking it off. No internal compartments for organization, but this doesn't bother me. I wish there was some way to take off the back snowboard holder, but i guess it doubles to give the pack some support? Size for me is great, I'm 5'8" and it sits comfortably on my shoulders and hips, i can barely tell I'm wearing it. Can't wait to try it out at Jackson Hole in a few weeks.

Awesome backpack. Very functional pockets and straps. I haven't used it in the back country yet, but its definitely great around town. It keeps a low profile for lift access and looks great while holding a day's gear. Very happy with the purchase.

Best Backpack Ever
June 18, 2010

I love my Heli Pro. It has all the cool features that keep me going, doing the things I love. The snowboard straps work great. It is very comfortable with board on back, the waist strap gives the added support that keeps it all stable and comfortable. I take my pack everywhere. Great buy, you can't go wrong!

A Great Buy
March 15, 2010

This pack held everything I needed and then some. I was able to bring everything me and a group of 7 needed for a day on the slopes. The camera pocket on the waste belt allowed me to quickly get to my camera and take some great pictures. The only bad thing I could say is that the pack didn't come with a bladder for water.

Sick Backpack

Used this pack on my last ski trip and it was awesome. It has a lot of room for extra layers, water, extra gloves, etc. plus the ski carry is easy to use and makes carrying your skis extremely easy.

Love it
January 26, 2010

My Norwegian girlfriend and I used her 18L version on several hikes. Not only has she had it for years and loved it, her dad - a huge gear geek who lives, hikes, and skis in central Norway - was equally impressed with it. Coming from two people who have used this pack extensively, I had to get one myself, and I'm happy I did. This pack is awesome: comfortable, well-built, and practical in a variety of places and activities. I highly recommend it.

Built To Last
January 20, 2010

My intention for the pack was strictly for my ski adventures, however it appears to be very versatile and will be using it for much more (hiking, carry on at airport, etc.). Pockets galore. One minor con to point out, a little more room in main pack wouldn't hurt. Overall a good product. Very durable. I have the notion i'll have this one for many years to come, a long lasting durable product is very important to me. Important feature out on the trials, fields wherever.

Good size and ton of features
January 18, 2010

I got this pack 2 weeks ago and was super happy when I got it. I've had a ton of DaKine bags over the years. I was worried that it was going to be too big after reading some reviews, This pack fits me well, I'm 5'10" 170 lbs. I love the hydro zipper in the strap it helps keep it out of the way. I also like how the side water bottle holder can zip up to be out of the way.

The Best Day Pack I've Seen Yet!
January 09, 2010

I was loaned the Helipro DLX pack for a recent day hike on the Tahoe Rim Trail. I was so taken with the fit and features, I had to have one! While its designed primarily for snowboarding, it will serve as an excellent pack for a variety of day-long activities, including show-shoeing and cross country skiing. A couple of the features I particularly like are the small zipper pocket on the waist belt...perfect for a small digital camera... and the insulated hydration hose sleeve. And the easy to reach fleece lined goggle pocket is a nice touch. I have a hunch the more I wear this pack, the more features I will discover.

Great versatile pack

Pockets for all your winter riding! Comfy fit and durable material. I don't know how waterproof it is yet, but seems to be so far in light snow and rain.
