Awesome Backpack!
This is an GREAT backpack, it's light and has many awesome features!
The only thing I would complain is that there isn't a very clear instruction given for the backpack

Great Bag.
Great Bag if you are looking for something smaller . it isn't very deep which makes riding the lift much easier. It has enough room for essentials and is loaded with nice technical features.

Very Good Pack
Bought this pack after doing a ton of research. I like to hit big powder runs along with groomed, and this bag is perfect for such. It's not too big, and only weighs 2 pounds. Added bonus is the hardened polyester it's made out of, compared to it's competitors and even the larger DaKine packs, which are made out of Nylon. Polyester is more water resistant.
Has built in hyrdation sleeve for water packs that can be worked through your shoulder.
Compared to most other packs this size (11L), this one takes the cake by far. It's lower clasp that fits around your waist is padded along with the back plate and shoulder straps.
Overall, a very great purchase for anyone looking to ride regular big mountain/groomed trails who doesn't want the bulky backpack feel that you'd get with a lot of other packs.

Heli Pack
The Heli Pack is perfect when you only want to carry a few things to the mountain. Enough space for a hydration pack plus a few other things. The waist belt, snowboard carry, and goggle pocket make this pack perfect for a day on the slopes. I usually carry an extra layer or two plus all my tools and some extra food as well and the pack handles everything pretty well. When your riding you can barely tell its there. I would recommend this pack

Great Pack!
Love that it holds my ski's. Been skiing for many years and it's nice not to have to carry my ski's around on my shoulder anymore. Very comfortable and definitely recommend getting a water reservoir for it.

Perfect Backpack for skiing or snowboarding
I was looking for a medium-sized backpack for when I'm snowboarding and this backpack fit my needs perfectly... it's just the right size. It has a great design (several compartments to keep my things organized & is not bulky at all). It's, also, very lightweight. I haven't used it to carry my board yet but I've gotta say that is another great feature. This backpack is great and I totally recommend it.

A winner
I've just used this pack on my Avalanche training course and it did everything I needed it to do! The goggle pouch is great with it's fleece lining and I fit my shovel on the outside. The only thing I couldn't figure out is exactly where to put the probe, so I put it in the inside zippered compartment. I am a small frame, so this slightly smaller pack (smaller than the heli pro) fits me well. Plus, the black & blue checked pattern makes it an easy pack to find in a crowd. Dakine packs are SO well made. I haven't actually carried my skis on the back, but the cable system looks easy and very secure. Another winner from Dakine!

Great Pack
absolutely love my new dakine heli pack. holds everything i need for a day inbounds, waterbottle, down vest, goggles, hat, extra gloves, sunscreen, pocket tool, camera. the pack is low-profile and you can easily sit on the lift without feeling like you are hanging off the edge of the seat. i also love the helmet pocket, great to transport your helmet to/from the hill. haven't used the board carrying straps, but they look solid. it was raining a bit while i was waring the pack and the water just beaded off, pack stayed dry. definitely a great pack that i would recommend to friends.

Best resort bag!
I bought this bag because I am going on a snowboarding trip to Colorado and I wanted to small bag that can keep all my stuff like, camera, food, gopro mounts, tool kits, water..etc.. this bag has it all. If your going in the back country then your going to need a bigger bag like dakine heli pro, pro II, or DLX.

Great Fitting Ski Pack
Awesome on the slopes, really low profile so it doesnt get in the way. But still carries a lot of junk because of the tall design. Only complaint is I use it at school too, and there's no small pocket for pencils and stuff.

a good buy
This pack turned out to be quite a bit bigger than I was expecting, based on other reviews. It's a great size for those who commute on food and want to carry their clothes and/or lunch. I run with it, too, and it's sturdy, stable and comfortable. well worth the purchase!

Great bag, but small
I got the 'black chop shop' design and I keep getting compliments on it. The fit is great and Dakine continues to lead the way in improving their bags, working on the little things like stretchy material where the chest buckles attach so you can get a tight fit and not stress the strap seams. This new version is much more spacious than the old heli-packs, which sort of fooled me - I thought it was a full sized day pack, but its actually kind of small. I like to cross-purpose my bags and this one is great for riding, but has a hard time fitting my laptop on days I go to the coffee shop instead of the mountain. If I could choose again, I would get Dakine's next size up. A horizontal board carry would make this bag nicer too.

Good design, excellent materials and overall quality
Great bag - its volume is only 11 L, but that's enough for a good day skiing or riding: a couple of sandwiches, a bottle of water, a camera, sunscreen and a beanie. It also has a very accessible goggle pocket, lined with soft fleece to protect the lenses. The bag has a very low profile, and stays close to your back the whole time - that's good when your moving around all the time. You can also attach your board to this backpack, but I find it can be rather uncomfortable. On the other hand, it's perfect for carrying your skate or long board. It's also nice for cycling, for three main reasons: it stays close to your back, it's Camelback compatible, and you can easily stuff on the outside of the pack a windbreaker or a rain jacket shell, just in case it gets chilly/stormy. And last of all, you can tell immediately that it's a quality backpack, just by the materials and components used. So, even though it's sometimes too small for some uses, this backpack totally exceeded my expectations: it's versatile, looks great and it's built to last.

Very awesome dakine helli pack
This backpack is perfect to snowboard in and also ride with the motorcycle, compact and very light, but also very spacious! I bought two of them the bomber color and all white very stylish!

Lightweight pack, fits your skis
The adjustable ski straps (that hide!!!) are what makes this worthwhile. You can find a similar hydration backpack out there with an insulated sleeve for a similar price, but good luck strapping on a set of 110 underfoot skis and hitting the backcountry with it. Everything else on the pack is pretty simple, just the way it's described. Graphics offered are pretty sick too.

got one for my oldest and was so impressed, bought another one for my other son they love putting thier shovels, lunch and water each day before heading up. 35+ days and still going strong for these 12 and 10 year olds. I might steal it sometime to skin out....

Good Resort Pack
This pack is a good size for resort skiing. It can hold extra layers, some energy bars, extra goggles,camera, etc. With the bladder full the capacity shrinks. It can also hold your skis so your hands are free on the walk back to the shuttle or car. It's comfortable to ski with, but a little cumbersome on the lift.

Perfect pack for the day trip!
Just got back from a week out west (Midwesterner here) and have to say this pack was perfect for the big resorts! I was able to fit extra gloves & hat, lunch, water, camera, sunglasses, etc. so I didn't need to trek back to the car or get a locker! Also, I helped a young kid in our group by carrying his skis from the car and was able to strap my own right on my back. The only downside is that the straps around the waist seem a bit long. Thanks Altrec!

Great Bag for the price
It works great for holding all my gear while riding and the insulated pouch for the hydration is great. I threw in a bladder from an old camelback without the insulation and I just spent 8hrs outside riding on a -2 day and never had any freezing. definately a good buy.

Dakine Heli Back Pack
I was very apprehensive to purchase a backpack online but my son loves his backpack and I am very pleased with the quality and the accuracy of what you see online is what you get. got delivered very quickly, and loved it from the beginning. Holds skis tight, and is very lightweight and attractive. The backpack is very comfortable but smaller than I thought it would be. I thought I would be able to use it as a school backpack also, but i would not recomend it for school use. The capacity is good for light storage. NICE PACKPACK OVERALL

This pack has what you need w/o extra that you don't.
I bought my Heli pack about 6 years ago and use it regularly. I ride with a long snowboard (172) and it hold it stable and never a problem. The pack is very comfortable and in the summer I also use it for trail hikes and such. I've used other packs borrowed from friends or my own and the Heli Pack is by far the best for performance and also won't break your wallet.

Quality construction and it looks really cool!
I have only used my Heli Pack once. It's nice, but I am not completly in awe of it like most other reviewers are. In fact, I was thinking of selling it on ebay and going for the larger Heli Pro pack instead, but only because I like to carry a lot of extra stuff. Bought this one at a shop at a resort on sale when I needed a pack in a pinch. It seemed a little small for much more than an extra fleece layer and a Camelbak bladder, but maybe that's the point! If I had tried to stuff my camera, goggles, and walkie talkie in it would have been really tight! It works well if you are packing really light, although even so it did seem a little thick while sitting on a chair lift. Had to keep an arm over the back of the lift to feel safe! Overall the construction is awesome, though! Great quality stuff from Dakine! If you pack light, you probably can't go wrong with this pack.

A Great Pack
I added a platypus bladder and it is great for cross country as well as biking. A bit thick if you plan to take on the lifts with you, so don't pack too much! If backcountry is your thing it's perfect.

Great pack!
The Heli Pack is just right for the basics. I never had any issues getting on the lift or on the slopes. The main compartment can hold an extra layer and your lunch, and the two external compartments gives easy access to tools or other accessories. I wish there were dividers in the main section. The shoulder, sternum and waist straps are comfortable and unobtrusive although there's a lot left to flap around.

Grest fit, Quality construction, Slim profile
The Dakine Heli pack is an excellent inbounds or out-of-bounds pack. The fit is perfect for me (I'm 6'2" and 200 lbs) and the construction is quality. It should last for years of skiing. I like the size. Its large enough to hold all of your needed equipment, but is small enough for bombing on the slopes in-bounds without feeling like your going to fall off of the lift.

Perfect Daypack
The Dakine Heli-pack is the perfect backpack. It's not too big that it's bulky, and it's not too small that it can't hold anything. I also can carry my board with it, which works very well. And it's also compatible with my camelback. I would strongly suggest this backpack.

super durable rugged lightweight....has waist strap, feels like part of your jacket. held extra hat, gloves, goggles, bottle of merlot, and sat comfortably on ski lift..worth every penny

Great functional form fitting pack
This is an excellent multi functional pack. The hydration compatable feature has come in handy during long days on the mountain. Plenty of room for extra layer,gloves,lunch,multi tool,etc. The light weight design is very form fitting making it comfortable to the point where you don't even know that it's on your back. Skis fit well acroos the back of pack for carrying in backcountry.This is a perfect pack for any day use, whether hiking,mountain biking or skiing/resort/backcountry.

This pack is great! It has just enough room for the things you need for a day out in the hills. Features include a strapping system to carry your snowshoes on the outside of the pack. The hydration feature is super. A GREAT little pack!

Great engineering!
First the good: this backpack is just the exact size one would expect from a backpack made for backountry/heli skking. It has enough room to hold all the essentials: first-aid kit, water, a few powerbars, spare goggles, 1 extra layer and a flask. It has a separate pocket for an snow shovel, and an avalanche needs. I've used it for boarding and mtn biking and probe can easily be attached to it. I owned the heli pro (20 liter version), but found it too bulky for myfind it of excellent quality and design. The bad? None! ;-)

Ridiculous
I love my Heli-Pack to death. It is just big enough to carry all the essentials, like powerbars, spare goggles, spare gloves and a hydration bladder. I have also carried my shell in there on those warm days. It never gets in the way, has a perfectly snug fit and somehow is ALWAYS JUST big enough for everything. Not too big, not too small. Definitely check it out if you want a great day pack.
