Description

Keep your noble digits warm and toasty in the DaKine Baron Mitt. Made with an exterior shell of durable nylon/poly fabric that has been treated with a DWR finish to help resist moisture, this snowboarding mitten is packed to the hilt with high loft synthetic insulation. The synthetic insulation resists moisture and traps body heat inside where you want it when a frigid blizzard is raging around you and you just keep getting back on that chair for more powder laps. Lined with soft fleece for next-to-skin comfort and blessed with a waterproof breathable Gore-Tex® insert, these snow mittens keep hands dry. The slip-on cuff simplifies your kit and reduces the chance of Velcro snags and busted buckles and cords while the dignified leather palm and back of hand detail and plaid or pinstripe patterns leave no doubt as to who the king of the mountain is.

Disappointed
December 30, 2011

I purchased these gloves as a gift for my husband. I was looking for a high quality glove that he could use to go snowboarding. The quality of the glove was good, no complaints there. However, he ended up returning the gloves because of the cuff length. The cuff does not reach far enough up on his forearm to make sure no snow will enter his glove. The cuff is very shallow and needs to be at least twice the length that it is. Everything else was fine, the fit was true to size and was comfortable. But the cuff was not satisfactory.

BURYLY Mitts
November 25, 2011

So I haven't gotten to try out these mitts yet, but I can try and describe it the best I can from just trying it on. First off, the inner lining is not your typical fleece material, but sherpa fleece, so I have a feeling these well keep your digits WARM (not to mention these mitts already has 80g of polyfill insulation). The leather feels pretty solid and burly as well. Also, finally, these come with a pair of wrist leashes, which are much appreciated (don't think previous years' Dakine gloves ever had leashes). One thing to note how ever, there is no velcro strap closure system on this mitt, you just slip your hands in and out, which I much prefer over having snow cover one side of the velcro everytime you fall and can't close the straps anymore. All in all, these feel like a pair of solid, burly mitts, and can't wait to try them myself. I can see why Eric Jackson rocks these in the backcountry.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
