Description

With some packs, it's mission impossible, but the DaKine Mission Pack has organization and protection dialed in. Sunglass and goggle pockets are fleece-lined to prevent lense scratching and a padded sleeve protects your laptop investment. An organizer pocket takes care of the little things and vertical board carry straps keeps your board with you even where you can't ride. A large main compartment handles everything else with easy top access and a secure zipper.

i love this backpack!!
March 22, 2011

i got this backpack to carry my laptop, books, and extra stuff to school. I can even fit my dslr in this bag. love the brackets in the front of the bag. i use it to carry my tripod and jacket. Looks way better than it does in the pictures. i got the black one and was hoping the grey accents would not be too light. they are darker grey and look amazing. I'm glad i got this backpack.

This backpack is great!
January 28, 2011

This backpack is great! I bought it as a birthday gift for my boyfriend and he totally loves it. We got the gray denim looking one with the maroon trim and zippers. He's 6'4" and it seems to fit perfectly. He really likes the buckles on the shoulder straps and the hip strap for big hikes and mountain biking. There are perfect spots for his glasses and laptop and so much more. The only minor negative is that the fuzz lined pockets could have smoother, more finished seems inside. From my experience, you can't go wrong with DaKine gear.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

my org review, and my month later review
February 26, 2009

ORG REVIEW 1/10/09 Just got it today! I just got my Dakine Mission Laptop Backpack (Black/scottish plaid). I just want to say WOW. This bag is better than I was expecting. This bag has enough space/pockets for everything your average joe would need in his daily adventures, and then some. Price was cheaper than I could find in any store, and plus no one else had this style in stock. I'm very happy with the bag. The straps and cords are VERY long, so it fits all sizes of people. But there is a downside to the style that I ordered. The inside of the bag is white, and I just forsee it getting dirty in daily use. At least it would be more visable, than any other color. Again Love the bag and had a good first time exp w/Altrec.com... Would/will by from these guy again! My Month Later REVIEW 2/26/09 I have had the Dakine Mission Laptop Bag for a little of a month at this point and I wanted to review it again now that i have had the chance of using it. I have used it on a daily on my scrolling the streets of PHX AZ. Used the backpack to carry all of my gear. Laptop plus accessaries, 2-3 books (no huge textbooks) and my mail and lose papers. About 20 - 25lbs on any given day, and you couldn't even tell, cause the bag fits your back so nicely. Thou, i don't skateboard, the SB clasp make for a great way to hold a jacket. I have not had an issue with the size of this bag. Its always had enough room. All and all it has been a great bag and I am pleased with it. BUT... (there always a but, huh?) About the 32nd day of owning the bag, i noticed that the claps or the chest strap had come unthreaded and was about to break. Now I am aware of the quality that the Dakine name carries. So I was sure that this had to be a defect of the item. Now, since this was my first time dealing with/being a customer of Altrec, I was expecting them to be like any of company and try to fight me at every step about returning a defective item. I can say, with my head held high, that i was WRONG. Not only did Altrec, apologize for the problem, and said "this is no problem sir, of course you can return the item". They even sent me a return postage paper work for me to use to return the item at no extra cost to me. Heres is the REAL kicker.. (I wish i remembered the name of the male i was talking to, but don't sorry) The Altrec C/S rep, asked me what i wanted to do with it. Return or Exchange the item. I asked for an exchange on the bag cause that the one I wanted. Well after a min or so. I was told that I org got one of the last Mission bags in that style (blk/scot plaid) and that they only had the black style in stock. Well to say the lest, I was bummed. I told them that i would just go for a refund and take my business else where. But the wonderful c/s rep, suggested this why don't i take a couple of days and look for a different bag and that exchange on a different make and model of bag, and that i would just pay the difference on the price. He also mentioned that they have a great PRICE MATCHING policy. He said that if i found a bag i liked and if i found it cheaper on a different website/with different company, to call them and they would sell me the same item for 5% cheaper. I told the C/S rep that i would do that. I did that, and as of yesterday, i placed a new order for a Dakine Team bag. And because of the C/S rep, i hunted down the lowest price i could find the for the TEAM bag. Because of there great C/S, not only did i get 30$ off of an $80+ bag, but with the refund on my org Mission bag i am only paying an 8 dollar difference on HUGE upgrade to a new bag. I am VERY pleased with Altrec. I will continue to be a HAPPY customers of theirs. With my experience with Altrec, and the mission bag, I do want to point out the things i found wrong with the bag, outside of the defect I had happen to mine. The mission bag has a "Goggle Pocket" on the back side of it. Thou, the idea of a "goggle pocket " is great. the pocket come unzipped all the time for no reason at all, making it possible for you to lose the items that your keep in there. The only other issue i have with the bag is the inside of the style I got. The Blk/Sct Plaid inside i WHITE, and it has started getting dirty.. I have taken a rag wipe it clean so often, but feel that is unnecessary. Bottom line Good Bag, (Mission) Great Company (Dakine) WONDERFUL SELLER/COMPANY (Altrec.com) In the words of Arnold S "I'll be back" as a customer that is!

Nice Sack
June 02, 2012

The best part about this pack is how well it secures to your body. A great attribute for highly physical activities because it moves with you. Took a decent fall while climbing and it stuck to me like glue. I actually bought this pack for around town EDC, but it has become a favorite to take to the hills for short outings as well. The pack is very low profile so I don't feel like I'm pulling a trailer as I do with most packs. Gives up some capacity to accomplish this, but still holds my winter parka, gloves, hat, laptop, socks, medical kit, granola bars, and water bottle. in the main compartment. The other compartment is fairly shallow but holds a couple spiral notebooks and I use the organizer for pens, flashlight, leatherman, bic lighters and phone. Keep a couple contractor trash bags, some para-cord, bandana and a roll of 1" gorilla tape in the zippered compartment. I only have 2 complaints about this bag. They are more a reflection of my needs than the bag because the bag is a solid build and design. First, the side pockets are a little small. I use one to hold extra mags, one for a couple Israeli bandages, and one for my sunglasses. The fleece lining is nice. Just wish they were a little bigger. Or at least had one big enough to hold a water bottle. Secondly, I wish the zipper pulls were a little larger. The size and design may or may not fit your needs, but it's quality design and build. I should also add very comfortable.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Very nice bag, cool design.

I bought the "white box" design and am happy with it. Lots of pockets and seems to be made of solid material, looking forward to trying it out on the mountain this winter.

From School to Snowboarding
May 29, 2011

Even though this backpack was advertised for use of skate or snowboarding, I bought it to use for college. I was first attracted to the backpack because of the colors--blue and yellow--because the backpacks on this site seem to have a unique color scheme not seen with other backpack companies. I love the chest and weight belt because it seems to give it more sturdiness and take some of the weight off of my back and shoulders. The only downside I would say is that there is not as much room inside as I was hoping for. Since I'm using it for school, I need room enough to carry books and binders. Most of my stuff can fit though. The best part is the fleece sunglasses pouch because I wear sunglasses all the time and I hated when they got scratched in my old (non fleece) backpack :)

Great Pack
December 28, 2009

Before buying the backpack, I researched like crazy and found this one was deff. a great backpack. I checked many websites and it was cheapest on here. I use the pack for my snowboarding gear. Fits all my extra gear. Also light enough I can board with it. Deff. reccommend it!

Lots of pockets, good padding
May 18, 2011

This is a great backpack for every day use and travel. There are tons of pockets on it. There is decent padding for your netbook (a larger laptop won't fit in) and a good amount of compartments for pens and other things. The amount of straps on it can get a little obnoxious if you don't intend to use them. When you "strap in" this backpack feels very secure and sturdy. I like the depth of the backpack as it is more compact and stylish unlike some deep puffy backpacks. For capacity reference, I fit 8 loose red bulls, 2 cans of soda and a 6 pack of sam adams bottles and the main compartment was full but not over-stuffed. The fleece lined compartments are a nice touch. The backpack advertises that you can strap your snowboard to it, but I don't think I'd use it for that purpose ever.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value

Beautiful backpack, even for a girl!
October 12, 2009

The style that seemed to fit my taste most was the Herringbone. Upon receiving it I realized it was even more beautiful than in the pictures; completely living up to my expectations. It looks great and despite my book load, feels weightless. It's extremely comfy yet appears very durable and well made (time will more than likely verify). Best deal I could find too (free shipping IS key). Has plenty of pockets to keep all your stuff neatly organized and saves so much time when you need to grab something specific out of it. Will make for a nice backpack to bring as a carry-on in future travels. No more fumbling around in one giant mess of a bag. I LOVE this backpack!

Dakine makes top quality backpacks
December 28, 2010

I already owned the Dakine Oceana pack prior to purchasing the Mission pack, so I knew the quality of the brand prior to purchasing it. The Oceana pack is for the beach, therefore I bought the Mission pack for snowboarding. In the one week I've owned it, I've used it everyday while snowboarding and it has delivered will all of the durability I expected from Dakine. The features are the selling factor for me, as I do not want any dead space in a bag when I'm on the go with it, especially on the mountain. I want to be able to use every inch of it and this is why Dakine makes so many packs; they are catering to multiple sports and individual needs. I love the goggle pocket, which is lined so as not to scratch the lenses. I like the small zippered pocket in the front for my keys, and the iphone/cell phone pocket that is cushioned and lined - I love that it's in the same pocket everytime, without a scratch. The laptop pocket is great for cushioning valuables, not only a laptop, so I put my paperwork, printed maps, receipts etc. back there to keep them flat and separated from all of the clothes and waterbottles I had stuffed in the main compartment of the pack and it worked great. The board straps on the front are great for my board, and for a my helmet when it's not on my head at the base of the mountain. I couldn't be happier with the Mission and with the Oceana packs and I will definately buy another Dakine pack when these ones are worn out (if that ever happens?!) they seem to last forever!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

good backpack, but not big enough
October 03, 2009

This mission backpack is a good buy for the steezer who uses it for just a laptop and a shredstick. To the full time college student that has 4-5 subjects to carry around, plus a laptop, its not enough room. This would be the perfect bag if it had more bulk

Good buy
December 22, 2009

Great bag. Decent amount of pockets. Provides good support for the back. Looks good, good quality, the cover material could be a little sturdier but if the zippers hold out,it's a great bag. Shipping was a little slow.

Great for what it is
December 20, 2012

I've used this pack multiple times through multiple airports and long trips. The adjustable "tension band" thing for water bottles is great, and that compartment zips up nicely when not in use. The opposite compartment is great for a compact camera, and has the soft lining. The behind-the-neck compartment is fine for glasses/goggles, but I usually clip on a hard case to one of the straps. Main compartment storage size is fine, when filled up I can still cram it under the airplane seating in front of me. Zippers move pretty smoothly, if you're in a shady 3rd world country, I suggest something to fasten the zippers. Dakine does sell a cable lock thing. That might prevent fast hands. Took this pack to mostly hot humid places, and has held up fine, didn't get too sticky on the sweaty back. The lil adjustable chest strap thing helps out a log in preventing slop.

awesome pack
December 06, 2010

I bought this pack in black for my husband to take on our carribean cruise in feb. I'm happy with the size and the padded back is great. Pleanty of pockets, one of the side pockets actually can fit a water bottle. I've always had good luck with Dakine products, my pack is going on 6 years and still looks brand new!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

SICK BACKPACK!!!!
February 22, 2008

i love it because of the video camera holder. instead of dealing with a camera bag i can just disperse all the camera accessories i need throughout the padded pockets. it just an overall amazing bag.

Seems just about perfect.
June 08, 2010

This is a gift that hasn't been given yet, but I think it's perfect! I wanted something sturdy but stylish for a friend who is about to start nursing school, will be commuting by bike and bus, and hauling books, laptop, scrubs, and all kinds of other gear. Also my friend is very petite, so it couldn't be huge. This seems to fit the bill wonderfully!

I purchased this backpack to carry my skateboard. It does that wonderfully. I like that it has straps to secure the backpack to your body and wobble less. The padding on it also makes it comfortable to carry around. I love the amount of pockets it has. Makes it a lot easier for me to organize things now. It can also carry a good amount of stuff. I was late for work one day and didn't have time to sort through my giant purse for things I needed. I was able to to shove that into my backpack and a small jacket and still had room for other items. It seems to be of good quality and pretty durable. I have a couple of kittens I just got and they still haven't quite learned what they shouldn't scratch. They've attacked my backpack a couple of times and it's come out looking exactly the same except for maybe some dirty paw prints that I've just brushed off. The only complaint I have is that I received a solid black backpack instead of the two-toned black that's displayed in the picture.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
