4.7 out of 5

I've had an early model of these guards for years and years - they are made in quality and do not fray. They stretch and stay tight to the skin allowing skin to breath but also allowing gloves to fit over top!

First pair of wrist guards, and there's nothing I would change. Very comfortable, great support, just make sure you buy gloves big enough to fit over them.
Great ! !

Very comfortable, very comforting

The wristguards are an outstanding product! Comfotable and comforting to know that they could help avoid an injury. Looking forward to more speed (and tumbles) in another season of snowboarding!
THEY ARE GREAT! and they work
December 19, 2004
They work great! When I first started snowboarding I landed a lot on my wrists, they don't make you sweat, and you hardly know they are there. Until they save your wrists.
needs better stitching

I had to do a lot of research just to make certain that the sizing is correct. I have medium sized hands but upon reading other postings I ordered the size Large and it fits a little snug under my glove. Also, keep in mind that you may need a slightly larger glove because of the added bulk but my favorite gloves worked well even though it was a little tight at the wrist getting them on. Initially, they felt great and I felt a little reassured that I wouldnt break my wrist if I took a nasty fall. However, after wearing them for about an hour I had some problems. First, the braces felt like they were being pushed out and I had to constantly push them down my wrist. My gloves helped keep them in the proper position. Second, after an hour the left wrist brace stitching fell apart at the palm and the metal bar was exposed. The plastic backing looked weak and I was surprised that my right wrist brace still held together. Lastly, when pushing off the ground with the braces on I felt the plastic backing on the palms start digging into the skin along the finger joints. I strongly recommend wearing wrist braces when snowboarding but the quality of the braces were poor.Pros: Ease of use, Great value, Cons: Wears quickly, Bad design, Poor quality
Great fit; solid protection

I think Da Kine really got it right with these wrist guards. Compared to typical inline/skating wrist guards, they are much more streamlined and easy to wear under gloves. Compared to several other brands of snow sport wrist guards, they are much more protective. The aluminum bar is quite stiff, and though I haven't had a hard wrist landing since using them, I have no doubt that they would protect well (as well as wrist guards can). I actually tried another brand which, while sleek and comfortable, seemed to have bars made like those dress shirt collar tabs! I don't think those would have protected me from a fall out of my chair much less on the slopes. The only slight negative is that they impair use of your hands somewhat, but it isn't a problem for typical downhill snowboarding. I have used them for kite snowboarding, and while they work, they do make handling the safety lines, depower strap, etc. a little challenging. I did not have trouble gripping the bar once up and going though. All and all, these are really good wrist guards.
Safey never takes a vacation

These wrist guards are comfortable and I actually ordered the right size. Wearing wrist guards is a lot better than having to wear a cast for a few months after a fractured wrist. This is cheap insurance.
good wrist guards
January 21, 2005
I like these wrist guards a lot. They are very comfortable and I've crashed with them on and they did their job excellently. My only complaint is that the plastic edges stick up a bit and catch a little on my gloves. It's not bad, they don't damage the gloves, but it would be easier to get the gloves on and off if the plastic was rounded or something so it wouldn't catch at all. Still, I would buy them again if I could go back in time since they're comfortable and very sturdy.

fit prefect under my gloves
Great for first timer snowboarders

These wrist guards came in pretty handy. They didn't make my hands hot and I didnt even notice that I was wearing them.

Works well. It does interfere with establishing a good grip on rails , lifts , etc.

must have for everybody
Comfortable, considering it's protective gear
January 22, 2005
Considering these wrist guards are protective gear, they're quite comfortable to wear. Fits quite nicely underneath my snowboarding gloves.
Comfortable, Great Performance, Excellent Overall
February 09, 2005
I was looking desperately for wrist guards I could wear under gloves. The Dakine wrist guards are perfect. They are extremely comfortable, fit perfectly under my gloves and give me a great sense of safety due to their very stiff wrist protection bar. Even with the incredible stiffness, they are built so that you have good use of your hands and fingers even while wearing them. I would recommend these to ANY snowboarder.

I don't really have many wrist guards I've worn to compare them to but from what I've seen it works pretty well. Only complaint is that it gets a little sweaty and left a little bruise on the backside of palm wrist area. Other than that it protects your wrist.
Comfortable wrist guard
January 03, 2005
This wrist guard is very comfortable, doesn't bind or rub anywhere. It's low profile, and with some pushing and pulling, it eventually fits under most gloves or mittens.
January 03, 2007
awesome stuff, they are really comfy but rather sturdy at the same time, it fits under my gloves. wasn't very expensive too.
February 09, 2006
These are the best stand alone wrist guards that i have yet to come across. If you are one who can not afford to buy very expensive gloves with built in protection, these dakine wrist guards are the best option available. They are comfortable, very potective, and easily fit underneath most gloves or mitts. I recommend this product to help protect against a very common snowboarding injury.

These wrist guards fit perfectly. The sizing chart was really helpful and I was able to pick the correct size with its help. It does make you a tad bit bulky so make sure to buy larger gloves to wear them with.
The most important piece of my snowboarding gear!
January 08, 2005
I love the DaKine wrist guards. As a massage therapist who loves to snowboard, I must protect my wrists and hands. These guards are slim enough to fit into my snowboarding gloves and have protected me when I've wiped out.
October 21, 2006
They're great and they fit snug under my Gloves's.
very happy with these
January 30, 2008
I am new to snowboarding and on the older side (38) so I was a little concerned about falls and wrist injuries as I learned how to snowboard. These provide solid protection, fit well under my gloves, and let me focus on my snowboarding. I am pretty sure they have already saved me from one wrist injury. Well worth the purchase
A Must Have
December 09, 2005
These guards are lightweight, extremely durable, and have lasted for several years. You will have no problem fitting your gloves over them and they are also comfortable. I recommed these for all snowboarders especially considering the minimal cost.
January 18, 2005
I've found these to be the most comfortable and sturdiest wrist guards available and they fit comfortably under most gloves
January 09, 2005
I bought these for my whole family, they are a must for snowboarders, very lightweight, wonderful under gloves.
worth the investment
January 04, 2006
don't get me wrong, the whole point of snowboarding/skiing is to not to eat it, but on occasion you'll need that added protection. these guards saved my wrists a ton, but don't let this product give you a false sense of security. you still feel the impact but at least you'll be able to ski/snowboard another day.
