Dansko

The Dansko story originated in Denmark, where founders Mandy Cabot and Peter Kjellerup found an ideal closed-back clog perfect for their equestrian lifestyle. Avid horse trainers, they were in search of a 'barn shoe,' something resistant to the elements. They found the Danish stapled clog both comfortable and attractive, a unique product they hadn't come across before in the US. Before long, they were bringing suitcases full of the Danish clogs back for friends and family, quickly realizing that the resilient, cozy and attractive style of shoe not only appealed to horse trainers, but to anyone who spent ample time on their feet. Their wares were coveted by health care workers, food service providers, chefs, and teachers alike. The demand grew, and Dansko, which literally means 'Danish Shoe', was born in 1991. At that time, Cabot and Kjellerup received rights to the stapled clog patent, and since then, the Dansko line has gained popularity and grown significantly in styles and consumers.

Dansko's product mantra has always been 'Beautiful from the Inside Out' and all of their shoe designs reflect this philosophy. Their product line considers ergonomics and the whole lower body, with detailed attention geared towards protecting feet, legs and backs from fatigue and soreness.
