The right backpack for long hikes
I looked very long for the right backpack for long(4-5 day) mountain hikes. The improvements on this backpack speak for company Deuter as they want to design the right product. The extra pockets on the belt make it easier as I will be able to concentrate on the hike instead of constantly finding where items are packed. The design is a plus with the backpack away from my back. Carrying 35-40 lbs would cause anyone to sweat more but the design of the back keeps the back off my back. I used an old back my last trip and was sorry from the beginning to the end. This new design has been the greatest for me.

Look no further...
Look no further, Deuter makes awesome packs! Recently purchased the Aircontact 55+10 and can't wait to use it on my next excursion. I've owned the Aircontact 45+10 and the Kid Carrier. I've been completely satisfied with the comfort and durability of these packs. The new side pockets offer extra storage which is always nice. The shoulder harness is comfortable and easily adjusted. I love the fact that the rain cover is included as well. Once I purchased my first Deuter pack a few years ago, most of my friends have converted as well. Also, Altrec is a great outfit to shop from, great service and return policy.

Great pack for many body types!
I have had this pack for a couple of months now and has already proved to be an all around pack for anybody that is looking for a fully adjustable rigging system. In addition to, you can just tell these packs are made to last. Built in rain cover is definatly a bonus

Great pack for a wide range of body types
I have had this pack for a couple of weeks now and already have taken it on a couple of overnights. This pack is incredibly comfortable and the fact that the pack has adjustable shoulder straps makes it easy to "dial it in" to fit you perfectly. It also allows for much more back ventilation than previous packs I have owned in the past. Considering that I live in Arizona, staying as cool as possible is very important to me and the Aircontact suspension design definitely makes a difference. Plenty of storage space and the waist belt pocket certainly comes in handy for the small items you may want quick access to on your travels. I do wish the pack had a slightly better strapping system as I had some difficulty attaching a sleeping pad and camera tripod but, with a little ingenuity this pack could work for just about anything you need it to do. A little heavier than other packs I have but worth due to the packs stability and durability. If this pack ever does fail on me I will most likely pick another Deuter for its replacement. Greatest pack I have owned to date!

A Natural Extension...
Having shorter legs but longer torso (5'10" with 30" inseam) having the shoulder straps adjustable was worth the purchase right there. FYI, Deuter also makes a womans shoulder straps that you can by seperatly and swaps out easily. So the ladies don't have to be limited to 75L version. My first trip out with it, I had 45lbs in it and it felt like a natural extension of my body. The ventilation feature for the back not only keeps you dry but, is comfortable as well. The pack also has 2 small holes at the back of the pack between the upper and lower compartment which is perfect for fitting in your tent poles! I really liked the bellows pockets is an excellent feature that is sadly missing on Deuter's smaller versions. It also fits the 2L platypus hydration packs well. Definitely a 5 star pack.

The internal frame pack for all seasons....
After searching the internet for a comfortable and durable backpack, I decided to buy the Aircontact 55+10 not only because of its good reviews but also for its cushioning and ventilating technology of its back padding. As i've hiked in hot and humid weather in the Philippines, i've proven that the ventilating effect of the mesh really works. Compared to my previous packs wherein I overheated quite rapidly, this pack kept my back cool enough to let me enjoy a day's worth of trekking in the tropical heat. Kudos to the design of the bellows pockets on the sides that disappear when not loaded. The quality of workmanship and materials used is second to none. I've used it in so many treks fully loaded all the time and no stitch or fabric has had signs of premature wear. And the adjustable velcro shoulder straps are so clever that it lets you fit the pack perfectly to your torso length. I wonder why all internal frame backpacks don't have this feature... If you're looking for a good fitting and comfortable pack, the 55+10 is the one for you...
