Freerider Pro 28 SL 4.7 5 3 3
Nice Bought this pack for trip to tucker mans, needing a pack to carry up my board and gear. Great looking and the construction and quality seemed excellent. Only down side is that it lacked ability to carry the snowboard horizontally, so sold it to my friend who skis. Bought another dakine pack instead. December 2, 2011
Quite impressive As a backpack designer and connoisseur I purchased the Deuter Freerider Pro 28SL because I have always been impressed with the craftsmanship and quality of Deuter bags, and was curious about this particular bag. I am also an avid skier and longboarder, and thought this bag would perform nicely as a board bag for long trips and a ski bag for ascent/descent trips. I have so far used it as a longboard bag only, and love the fit, feel and durability of the Hypalon front panel. The fit of the bag is pure Deuter. It feels stiff, secure and comfortable. I removed the delrin rod for casual use (it is not expressly removable but isnt tacked down and can be removed and replaced somewhat easily) and really liked the fit after removing the rod. The bag also became a bit shorter and deeper, so its more usable as a daily-use bag in this configuration. But for holding skis, the rod adds a sure feel that is definitely an advantage. I could go on and on about this bag, and examine every feature, but I'll leave it here and say that the bag is extremely well-thought -out, if too specific for skiing (skiers will rejoice) and cane be flexed to use as a dayback for hikes short and medium length. Upsides: quality, durability, look, feel, construction and pocket design/placement, removable hip belt Downsides: heavy, longish, a bit shallow in depth (limiting the option stuffing it with lots of stuff), limited colorways (1?), limited/focused design (skiers and snowboarders in a backcountry context). Overall: great bag for skiers, very good for hiking, beautiful look, quality feel. Heavy and stiff for casual use. April 6, 2011
Great Bag I bought this bag for school and I like it because of the padding, durability, and the many pockets and the many compliments that I get November 4, 2010
