Nice medium-sized pack
May 14, 2011

This pack is very comfortable and good for carrying things around on hikes. Not the biggest bag, but good capacity for its size. Good for day hikes or short adventures (one night).

Amazing Backpack
December 02, 2010

I bought this bag specifically for a 4 month trip to Europe (with the plan to use it later for wilderness backpacking...). I just completed my trip and I have to say this was the perfect bag! The size it just right.... big enough to stash all of what you NEED when traveling, but no TOO large as to let you overload yourself with non-necessities... I loved the top and bottom access. The zippers are smooth and seem durable. The bag is pretty slim and actually fits mostly behind you, not sticking out the sides so it's easy to walk down the aisle in an airplane or bus with it... The very top has a great little zipped compartment that gives easy access to items you need on hand. The rain fly that comes with it is stowed in a zippered compartment at the very bottom, and it was ESSENTIAL during days I was stuck out in the rain. AND for hot days of the summer, the design of the harness keeps the bag off of your back an inch or so and was great for keeping my back from getting soaked with sweat. Very comfortable to wear weighted, and overall just a great bag for all traveling and shorter backpacking trips into the wilderness.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

super comfortable
October 13, 2010

this pack fit me like a dream. i was able to pack in 26lbs and went 3 miles with no trouble at all. i tried on many packs of this size including some ospreys and gregorys and this felt like i was wearing nothing. after that i found it here on altrec for a deal and picked it up immediately. they shipped it quick and came as advertised. still loving this pack.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value

Excellent Pack for short trips
April 20, 2011

This is a great backpack for day trips and warm weather backpacking trips. It is surprising how much you can fit in it, and the construction of the bag is top-notch. I bought this pack for the comfort, and it excels. It is easily the most comfortable pack I own and all of the adjustments really make a difference. If you pull a strap tighter you feel the weight shift to where you want it. I also love the breathable back, which makes this pack awesome for backpacking in warm weather (or in cold to keep your back from getting sweaty and making you freeze when you stop). A huge benefit to the Deuter is the built-in rain shell, which is very useful for those unexpected storms. Overall this is the highest quality backpack I own. It isn't huge, but I have other packs for that. This is a bag for quick and light trips, and it is excellent. A lot of work went into this bag and I intend to continue using it for years to come.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value

Love this BAG!!
April 20, 2011

I have used the Futura Pro 42 on three weekend hikes all averaging about 15-20 miles round trip. I have to say each time I loved using this bag. (Stats: 6'1" / 215 lbs.) Fits great and there are a lot of adjustments you can make to get the fit perfect! I love the spacing that allows my back to stay cool and it defintely makes a difference. I was suprised as to how much actually fits into the bag. Some of my other friends with larger bags didn't understand how I could fit so much gear in just a 42. All the different pockets are great in keeping your stuff organized and seperated. The hood pockets and side pockets are one of the best features to the bag. The only complaints I have is that I wish there were pockets on the belt so that you could store a energy bar/gel. Whenever I needed to refuel I had to take my pack on and off, very inconvientent to just get a energy gel pack. Overall I have to say Deuter makes great bags and the Futura Pro 42 is no exception...great bag!!!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: no pockets on belt!
