Good heavy-duty child carrier
March 13, 2012
Upgraded to the Kid Comfort II from another style of child-carrier that wasn't as durable or comfortable (for the wearer or child). We chose this carrier due to the suspension system, comfort features for the child, and reputation of Deuter quality - and all three have held up over the past year of frequent travel throughout Asia. The KCII fits like a quality backpack, and adjusts well to my 6'3" frame. The positioning of the child in the carrier is well balanced, with good support for the rider (useful for long spells in the carrier). The rest pad allows the rider to sleep in the carrier, which is another plus. Storage in the carrier is equivalent to a daypack: we can easily fit diaper items, clothes changes, sun lotions and insect repellents, an assortment of toys, and rain gear in the storage compartment. The Deuter 3-liter water bladder fits perfectly, is easy to refill from the pack with bottled water, and provides a (mostly) hands-free drinking option for both carrier and carried (our son loves it). Recommend getting the optional sunshade, although we have not found a need for the rain cover yet. However, it is possible to overload, as the storage space and a growing child can combine to create a heavy load. Also, the support leg constantly needs to be adjusted or sticks out behind the pack. Even when stowed, the carrier sticks out behind the wearer, making moving in tight spaces awkward. But for child carrying, the KCII is outstanding.Pros: Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: bulky, support leg sticks out
I recommend it to friends and strangers!

I am completely satisfied with this product. I chose it because I have a Deuter pack and find it very comfortable. This carrier is the same. The vari-quick adjustable torso is super easy--my husband and I switch back and forth in no time. The quality is superior--very durable. We have traveled all over North America and Europe, on and off trains, planes, boats, buses, mountains, valleys, etc. with our daughter in this pack and we all love it! I am a fairly small woman (5'4", 120lbs) and find it very manageable; I can take it on and off without assistance if I need too. She can fall asleep in it. The wide seat is very comfortable for her. She always wants to get in. We started using it around 5-6 months, now she is 19 months and I foresee many more months of use. Good sized carrying compartments and multiple pockets. Easy to fold up. Not too heavy on its own. Comes with a cute little bear--Deuter always has attention to detail! We purchased a water bladder that fits with it, as well as the sun/rain cover and I'm very pleased we did, although the pack is great on its own. It's not the cheapest carrier out there, but it's worth every penny! I have seriously recommended this pack to complete strangers, moreover friends :)Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use
Kid is Comfortable

We conducted a lot of research and "test-drove" several premium brands and ultimately decided to buy the Deuter. Optimizing comfort for both passnger and carrier was a high priority because, among other ventures, we're undertaking a 3,700 foot climb next month. Baby enjoys the ride and is comfortable enough to nap. Deuter seems to consistently be the most expensive, but we love the outdoors and wanted our baby boy to really enjoy his first mountain climbing experience.

A Comfortable Carry

A great suspension system holds up to the weight of our growing child. It easily adjusts to the different torso lengths of my wife and me, plus thre's lots of room for carrying baby/toddler supplies.

I love to spend time with my son and I carry him everywhere with this pack. He loves to ride in it and it carries very comfortably. I wish that I would have found this pack with my first child but they were not available in the USA until about five years ago. The "ride" is better for the child because the pack holds him more vertically and the harness is totally optimized for the adult. I also recommend the sun shade/rain cover accessory.
High quality, comfortable carrier.

I chose this carrier for two primary reasons: 1) the adjustable torso legnth, and 2) the hydration storage. It is very comfortable for both adult and child. So comfortable, in fact, that my 10 month old frequently falls asleep while we are hiking. I was pleasantly surprised at how much storage space it has.
Best out there!

This pack is the best out there for carrying babies. Super comfortable, light weight, and easily adjustable to fit torsos of all sizes. The sun/rain shade accessory is great as well!
enjoying this comfortable carrier

We bought this pack when it came on sale, so it was nice to save a little money. I would say the price is definitely worth it. We borrowed one from someone before we bought this one, and it was a cheap brand - not comfortable at all. My husband put this one on when we got it and felt so relieved he would be comfortable the next time we went hiking/bow shooting. The adjustable torso length is a big deal for comfort! My husband and I have to switch it between the 2 of us - so it's great to have that. Good storage!

This carrier is great. We took our little one hiking in Maine this week and she really enjoyed the view (until she started sleeping). The pack is high quality and distributes the load correctly. The harness system/seat for baby is secure and simple. Our little one is just over 6 months and just big (and stable) enough for the carrier. The directions state that child should be able to "sit well". I looked at some other brands but the Deuter pack seemed to be best quality. If you get this model, I would get the sun and rain visor--they are very simple to attach. We put the pack in a large duffel (along with bottom of child car seat) for our flight and this worked well. All in all a great purchase if you love the outdoors. It also works well on urban hikes.
Nice, comfortable kid carrier

We chose the KC2 because of its ability to adjust to different torso lengths and the amount of stuff that it can carry. I also like that it can carry a hydration bag. I wish it had a place to put the sun shade when not in use. And a pocket to hold a water bottle that was more accessible when I was wearing the pack.

We love this carrier, and our son does, too! It really is durable and perfect for our needs--travelling, hiking, shopping, etc. I'm not in great shape, but I can carry my 16-month-old for hours without getting tired--the suspension is that good. It would be nice to have the canopy for it, and a removable "drool pad," but otherwise it's a wonderful pack.
