Women's Fit is perfect!
July 29, 2011
I have taken my pack on three training hikes in preparation for my Mt. Whitney hike next week. Fully packed it is still comfortable and feels light weight. The venting system that separates the pack from your back is very nice and the pack's dimensions (narrower and shorter torso) are perfect for my 5'6" frame. I would recommend this pack.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Great value, comfortable, Cons: could use some more external pocketsGreat fit for small women

I'm 5'3" with a short torso and this pack fits my back great. It will hold more than it looks like too. I use it for everything, as a crag pack a day pack and for over night trips. The mesh back panel really keeps your back dry and cool when it's hot, but it's not as comfortable the more weight you add. I feel like my maximum weight for comfort is around 30 lbs. more than that and it's hard to get it to sit comfortably on my hip bones. It's holding up pretty well too, it's tumbled down hills, gotten caught between boulders and spent a lot of time sitting in the dirt. after 6 months of hard use, it still looks brand new.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Ease of use, Great valueAs though this backpack was tailor made for me...

With the SL features, this backpack fits my 17" torso perfectly. My third Deuter, my first SL. I would recommend this, especially, to a beginner.
Loving this Pack!

Using this pack for long day hikes and will eventually use it when I climb Mt. Kilimanjaro in September. So far, I really like it. I like all the different pockets and the fact that it has straps to hold my trekking poles. The rain cover will definitely come in handy. The only thing missing is a small front pocket to put my camera or keys. However, I've seen attachments at outdoor stores that I can place on the straps for this purpose.
Fit and charm

I bought the Deuter Futura Pro 34 SL for Women after doing online research searching for the perfect bag to backpack and travel the world with that was small enough to carry on with maximum capacity, ease of use, durability and style. When the bag first arrived I initially thought that it would be too small for my needs, but I was pleasantly mistaken. The bag expands to hold quite a bit of gear, and the outer straps made it easy to attach my yoga mat, sleeping bag and tent. It gives me enough room to pack what I need and limits me from packing all that I think I want. I am 5'3 and it fits me like a charm. The engineering is marvelous and it kept the bag from resting directly on my back and the air circulating. There are several pockets and even a handy guide in case of alpine emergency. Great pack!
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of useGreat bag, but not the right fit for me.

Overall I think this is a great bag. Lots of options for storage. I really like the separation in the main compartment. It would make it easy to separate wet items or things that you need to get to frequently. Hip belts were very comfortable. The bag ended up being a little short for me. I am 5'7. I was also looking for a zipper on the main compartment so that I can lock it up. I use mine for traveling.
