Perfect 1 man tent
August 14, 2009
Was pleasantly surprised at how easy setup and breakdown was. 5'8" and I had perfect amount of room for pillow and pack. Couldn't be happier, plus its so light. Will be replacing the stakes though.
For the Price... Hard to beat!

I did more than 30 nights last summer in this tent. Without my dog along the floor space is adequate (I'm 5-10, 170lbs). I liked it's 40 inch interior height. It kept me dry in unbelievable gale-force driven rains. AFter I traded the stakes out the tent (body, fly, stakes) came in shy of 3 lbs. The tent material is durable... meaning, that it isn't made of the paper-thin stuff and can take some abuse. One problem I had, which I consider minor, is that when entering/exiting the tent, you needed to be quick to avoid getting the interior wet; There is no over-hang of the fly on this design. Then only reason I moved to a different tent is because I needed just a little more space with my dog along.... 18 sq ft of floor just doesn't quit cut it. For the money, this tent is hard to beat!
Nice solo tent

Took this tent with me on my last 3 backpacking trips. Easy to setup and lightweight. I'm 5'10" 165 lbs. The tent has enough head room for me to sit up and change my clothes. One night I slept with the rainfly partially open and was able to see the full moon over the river. Cons: Weak stakes, will replace with aluminum. Small vestibule area. Overall an excellent tent for the price.
Good size solo tent for the money

For moderate weather (late spring, summer, early fall) it is a great tent for a solo hiker. Easy to set up. You can get dressed inside the tent. Not too heavy, and good price.
A perfect one person light weight tent

I bought this tent for a backpacking trip on AT. Used it for the first time one week after I received it. I am 5'9, and 160 lbs. This tent is perfect for me.
Great for the money

I also have this tent in the two person version and have been very happy with it. It's stood up to rain, wind and frequent use. I like the extra headroom the tent offers.
Great tent for the money

Eureka Spitfire 1 Pros -- Does not leak. Excellent ventilation. Easy setup. Roomy inner tent. Durable. Performs great in wind. A lot of tent for the money. Cons -- small vestibule. Big enough for wet boots, not much more. No room to cook in vestibule. No room for pack in vestibule. I slept in this tent down to 18F with very minimal frosting inside. I replaced the stakes with titanium stakes and added a homemade footprint. My packed weight is 3lb 14oz.
