Exped Andromeda Tent

Move through crisp days in which the moon never sets, relax on cold evenings under the Milky Way: the Andromeda is a comfortable shelter for extended backcountry journeys. This tent builds off the Sirius design, adding a third pole and fourteen cubic feet of space in the vestibule. A side entry door allows you to step out of the weather and into the vestibule before you enter the interior of the tent. Exoskeleton design allows the Andromeda to be set up rapidly, in one piece, with the rainfly covering the tent through the entire process. This feature makes it suitable for wet, stormy areas and expeditions. A polyurethane-coated ripstop polyester rainfly repels precipitation. Flat pole sleeves contribute to the low aerodynamic profile and minimize fluttering in stormy conditions. DAC Featherlite 9 mm aluminum poles stay rigid through most conditions and offer excellent rebound in extreme weather. The polyurethane-coated taffeta nylon floor remains waterproof through drenching storms and slushy spring conditions and the large circular door unzips in one smooth motion, providing enough room for two people to sit side by side. Adjustable vents at the front and rear of the tent allow the airflow to be finely tuned to match the weather. The canopy can be unhooked from the poles and pushed back to create an enormous, protected area under the rainfly for sorting gear, cooking, and socializing on stormbound days. In addition, the rainfly can be erected as a lightweight shelter or the canopy can be pitched separately in warm weather, making the Andromeda a 4-season tent that comfortably adapts to summer use.

  • Polyurethane-coated, taffeta nylon floor
  • Tent canopy suspended from poles
  • Flat pole sleeve on fly improves aerodynamics

Great motorcycle tent!
I simply like this tent as it has many features that aren't apparent at first glance. The ventilation can be arranged in every way imaginable, from just opening the two vents at each end, to rolling the fly up and away over the foot end of the inner-tent. The door has both fabric and mesh to aid in venting as well. The inner tent is made of breathable fabric and can be pitched separately as can the fly. The inner-tent has a mesh screen on one side with a fabric cover for privacy and the door also has both mesh and solid fabric. Three equal length poles make set-up a breeze as there is no guessing as to where each of them goes. In less than 2 minutes your shelter can be set-up. Just spread out the tent, put 4 stakes in the ground, 1 on each corner, and push the poles into the full length sleeves...Done. For bad weather just guy out the entire tent on all sides and 70 MPH wind won't budge it. In Wyoming, during a bike rally, I found out personally that this tent is bone dry and bombproof, when a massive thunderstorm rolled in one night. For motorcycle travelers it is nice to use the huge vestibule for gear storage ,saddle bags & stinky suits, and for cooking in inclement weather I have gone through many tents but this is one is a keeper.

It's great!
This tent is just fantastic. It has great workmanship thruout,it light, and easy to set up.I've used it winter camping in Yellowstone,Wisconsin, and on summer trip as well.It handles the worst weather that can be thrown at with ease. The big vestibule comes in very handy too.I'd highly recommemd it to anyone that wants a high quality tent.Worth every penny.
