Description

Let us break it down for you: the Exped ComfortFoam Mat 7 Pump sleeping mat is filled with lightweight foam chips for insulation, is 7 cm thick and has an integrated pump for easy inflation. Popular with rafters, car campers and those who can afford a little extra room in their bag and more weight than backpackers want, you'll get the cushion and insulation of the foam pellets even if the mat is punctured. Luxuriously warm and comfy, most folks find this mat wide enough to accommodate their elbows and with the baffled chambers, never feel any cold spots. The integrated pump keeps your moist breath out of your mattress, extending its life expectancy and keeping you sleeping soundly for years.

Specifications

  • Temp: -17 degrees C, 1 degrees F
  • Warmth / R Value: 4.9
  • Insulation: Recycled foam from the foam cores taken from the Exped SIM Light Mats; reuses materials bound for waste stream, reduces the cost and ensures that the Comfort Foam Mats are self inflating. Only CFK*-free, high grade open cell polyurethane foam is used. By filling the mats loosely with foam cores instead of lamination, they eliminate the risk of delamination, which is the most common defect in regular self inflating mats.
  • Integrated pump: ensures swift and intuitive inflation of the mat; use both hands to inflate the mat within a minute; the flat deflation valve with one way flap is quick and effective
  • Laminated, polyester fabric is UV and abrasion resistant, slip resistant, and air tight
  • Baffled chambers eliminate cold spots
  • Stuff sack and field repair kit included
  • Packsack: 25 g, 0.9 oz
  • Packed: 30 x 16 cm, 12 x 6 in
  • Size: 178 x 52 cm, 70 x 20 in (Medium); 197 x 65 cm, 77.5 x 26 in (Long Wide)

great mattress!
September 22, 2011

the mattress inflates easily, and its quite compact, not as small as i hoped for, but i think the size definitely reflects the quality. it has a cool hand pump built in and deflates easily as well! perfect size for me- 5'4", i got one for my boyfriend too and his toes hang off the edge at 6' but it sure beats sleeping on hard ground every night!! i wouldnt recommend this for a long backpacking trip, its too bulky, but for a camping trip or if u travel in a tent its great!!! seems very durable and well constructed. im looking forward to using it while traveling this winter!!

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Comfort + packability = happy back
July 25, 2011

I just purchased the Exped ComfortFoam Mat 7 and used it 5 nights straight during a bike tour. I couldn't have been happier. Packs light: My friend has the Exped SynMat (the orange one), and hers packs down to the size of a Nalgene bottle, as advertised. The ComfortFoam Mat is a little larger folded, because of the foam, but still quite manageable with my other gear. Backpackers might consider the SynMat instead because of its small size. Comfort: As a person with back problems, and after sitting on a road bike for 5 or more hours a day, a good night sleep is imperative for me. Since you can inflate the mat to your own level of firmness, it's like having a portable sleep number bed. I was extremely comfortable on both sod and hardpack surfaces. Design & price: The built-in pump made it so easy and convenient to get the mat ready - even in a one-man tent. It seems a little pricey to me but after the week I just spent sleeping on it I am glad I paid what I did. Previous mats I have used: plain foam mats (terrible) and an Alps Mountaineering comfort mat (nice, but not even close in comparison).

Pros: Great design, Performance, Ease of use
Durability: 4 / 5
Quality: 5 / 5

Very Nice

Great product...very nice to sleep on. Easy to set up and use. We used it on the Lake Shore...so it was very good and making the sand that is very not flat seem flat.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value
