I got this hat a couple of days ago right before Tropical storm Ida passed thru with 25-30 mph winds & 2 inches of rain.It held up really well and the wool ear flaps & insulation kept me warm and dry walking to work in Annapolis Md on the water.And it is real stylish hat to wear.

This really like the looks of this hat. It is very classic and I like that the crown is not stiff like a lot of other fedora style hats. It sheds water very well and is really very warm (and wind resistant). I have two concerns with the hat for what its worth. The first is that the sizing is a bit off. I am on the small side of medium according to the sizing chart and yet with the ear flaps folded into the hat it is very snug. When the flaps are down the hat fits perfect. The second issue seems to be inherent to waxed cotton. The hat does have a slight odor when worn in direct sunlight in warmer weather (40's or so).

I got tired of my knit cap getting soaking wet when shoveling my long driveway in the snow. This hat is perfect for outdoor chores during snow or rain. The material is treated/waterproof. The flaps fold out to keep your ears warm. And the brim keeps the snow out of your collar. Size runs a little small - I usually wear a medium, but had to return the medium and get a large.

I love the look and feel of this hat, I own several filson products and greatly appreciate their quality. My one qualm with this hat is that once the flaps are lowered they are not snug around the ears. I know ordering a size down would not work because the hat fits great when the flaps are up. I'm going to try sewing the flaps so they are tighter and hopefully that will fix the problem.

I got this hat for days when I need more protection than a ball cap can give. Now it's my favorite cold weather headgear. It's warm, durable and the bill should keep the rain and snow off your face and neck. My only gripe is that my hat shrank after I got caught in an all day downpour. I had to cut out the ear flaps so it would fit again. Now I re-wax my hat to increase it's water repellency. I would recommend this hat but limit it's exposure to heavy rain.
