The new version of the Forerunner 305 has a redesigned heartrate monitor chest strap that's softer so you can add more distance without feeling burned by friction against your skin. Unlike other GPS designs, the Forerunner 305 is for racing and running, so Garmin created a high-sensitivity GPS receiver that allows for faster acquisition times so you can track your progress better than the stuff made for hiking and boating. The GPS antenna wraps around your wrist for a better and more consistent sky view, so the satellite reception remains consistent throughout your runs and bike excursions. You can also customize readouts with up to 12 individual data fields on three separate screens so you always have the information that you need the most when you need it. Input your body weight and the Forerunner 305 will calculate calories burned, along with your speed and overall pace. When the workout is over, download all of the information to your computer and the included Garmin Training Center software so you can track your results and set new training goals. The Forerunner 305 software is also completely compatible with Garmin's MotionBased.com, a special website that analyzes workouts with online mapping and even route sharing among other fitness enthusiasts.
