Description

The Men's Cady 2477 Synthetic Insulated Vest from Golite is named after a hotly debated wilderness bill in California which is in regards to claimants using part of a 136 year old mining law to circumvent conservation of federal lands and to re-open protected lands to motorized vehicles. Just how specifically the name describes Golite's new insulated jacket is up to the beholder. Naming conventions aside, the Cady is teaming with features:

Never heard of this brand before but would definitely rate it as high as my mountain hard wear or Patagonia and would definitely buy more of their products.

I like this vest
March 02, 2011

I got this vest because I wanted something as warm or warmer than a fleece vest that was lighter and more compressible. I have not been disappointed. I find that this vest is very good at keeping my torso warm while moving. A mid-weight wool layer, this vest and a thinly-lined wind jacket are all I need to keep warm while hiking at 20 degrees in the front range foothills. I think the vest is designed and fit for for active use -- it fits well (snugly) over mid-to-heavy weight base layers and has elastic around the arm holes. It would not do as well for a looser, casual fit over, say, a flannel shirt. A few things to be aware of: the vest is great at keeping in warmth that I am generating. It does not feel so warm if I am just sitting around (then again, what does?). I am not sure how durable the vest would be in terms of abrasion. I try to wear something over it if I am going into rough or thorny areas. Some of the other vests I looked at talked about how good they looked "in the office." In my opinion this is too shiny to wear inside, unless you happen to work in a Euro disco or a roller rink. All in all, I am very happy with this vest.
