Description
When the grams count and you still need full weather protection, the men's Malpais Trinity 3L Jacket from GoLite offers fully taped seams and waterproof zippers to keep you dry, and it still weighs in at a mere seven ounces. The 3-layer storm shell uses Trinity™ fabric, a waterproof-breathable material with excellent stretch and breathability. Jacket features include a fixed hood, two zipper pockets and shock cord closure on the bottom hem.

featherweight rain protection

Light it is- 232g on my postal scale for my xl size. It is totally waterproof, the hood and sleeve adjusters hold well despite their small size (hook/loop dots). It is roomy enough for a bulky sweater or the like. Everything has obviously been designed for saving weight. As a result, I'd say it is probably a bit fragile, but in several wearings, I haven't experienced any damage to it. It has kept me totally dry in light but blowing rain. Although I don't know if this will affect the durability or longevity of this piece, but it's nice to see the finest stitching and taping quality on any outdoor equipment I've seen. I have another very lightweight shell that is similar, but it has no hand pockets, only a napoleon. This jacket has conventionally placed hand pockets, and while I don't think I'd put my hands in them in wet conditions, I'd sure put my keys and wallet in them.

Fitted Tops: GoLite Baselayers are 'Fitted' garments - Fitted tops will be snug to the body but are not 'skin tight'. Fitted tops are generally not intended to be worn over other garments.
Fitted Bottoms: Fitted bottoms will be snug to the body, but are not 'skin tight'. This fit is generally used in baselayer bottoms and is intended to be worn under Semi-Fitted or Relaxed bottoms.
Semi-Fitted Tops: Semi-Fitted tops will contour to the body without being tight. Semi-Fitted tops will fit comfortably over Fitted tops such as baselayers.
Semi-Fitted Bottoms: Used primarily on our high aerobic performance bottoms such as running pants, Semi-Fitted bottoms will contour to the body without being tight. Semi-Fitted bottoms will fit comfortably over Fitted bottoms.
Relaxed Tops: Relaxed tops will drape over the body, but are not baggy. Relaxed tops fit comfortably over Fitted and Semi-Fitted tops.
Regular Bottoms: Regular bottoms offer a little extra room in the seat and upper leg for ease of movement. Regular fit is generally use in our hiking and travel bottoms.
Semi-Fitted Outerwear: Used primarily on our high aerobic performance outerwear pieces, Semi-Fitted outerwear contours to the body and will fit comfortably over both Fitted and Semi-Fitted tops.
Relaxed Outerwear Tops: Our most common fit for outerwear, a Relaxed outerwear garment drapes over the body, but is not baggy. Relaxed outerwear fits comfortably over Fitted, Semi-Fitted, and Relaxed tops.
Relaxed Outerwear Bottoms: Relaxed fit is our most generous fit for bottoms and is generally reserved for outerwear. Garments using Relaxed fit offer ample wearing ease from the seat to the ankle and are intended to fit over other pants.
