Good light weight jacket
March 25, 2012

This jacket is waterproof, breathable, and very lightweight. Perfect to keep in the pack as a windbreaker, but will work as a great rain shell as well. Nicely made and looks good.

Solid performance to weight balance
June 20, 2011

First time I had to use this jacket was this weekend up in the Arapaho NF. Despite sunny days down in Denver, a solid day of rain in the mountains, but I never had to worry. I put on my Tumalo and kept on hiking. I never got wet outside and, despite carrying my 20 lb pack over 1000 feet of gain, I stayed dry inside as well. When not worn, the 10 oz was barely noticeable in my pack. The jacket's design was solid and functional from hood to hem. I noted that the jacket offered some wind protection, but to be fair it's not really designed for that. Your insulating layer should be what you wear to keep you warm.

Pros: Great design, Performance, low weight

Great Lightweight Rain Jacket
April 01, 2010

This jacket represents the best compromise between weight, protection, breathability and comfort. In the end I chose this jacket over the Marmot Super Mica. Although the Super Mica is approximately 1oz heavier, the Tumalo beat it in comfort hands down. The Super Mica is a made of a more crackly, plastic feeling type material, which didn't feel comfortable on the skin. The Super Mica (in lithium) was also see through, particularly when wet. The Tumalo on the other hand had a much softer feel. I can see myself taking this jacket both on backcountry backpacking trips and when I take city vacations. I ran lightly in this jacket in moderate rain and staid completely dry. The membrane is very breathable such that persperation moisture was not an issue. I highly recommend this product.
