GoLite Roan Plateau 800 Hood Jacket for Women is a down jacket light and compressible enough to stuff in your pack but with the warm and protect you need when the temperatures really drop. Stretch knit cuffs and hidden cinch cords on the hem and hood seals cold air out and secure-zip side pockets are ideal for hand tucking and keeping warm. This jacket is very warm. I'm satisfied with it's lightweight, warm, and convenience. Overall, I like it and I would recommend it to all people.

It's pretty nice but too light to be helpful. I would recommend it if you don't have a synthetic layer, but if you do then it's not worth it having this too.

Since my first review, I have worn the jacket quite a bit. I still love it in every way, except one. I have a skinny neck, and the neck is pretty tight when zipped up - not usually the case for me. There is no room for wearing a scarf unless you unzip quite a bit - and then the collar flares out showing the black fleece lined inner... looks a bit like a Dracula collar when unzipped. So, for those who wear scarves often, or don't like anything constricting around the neck, this might not be the best choice. Wearing a neck gaiter on the exterior of the coat may be an option for those of us who desire to cover our nose and mouth during bitter cold.

Finally a jacket for the long-torsos!

I have a ridiculously long torso and can never find jackets that are long enough. This jacket is it! It is more of what might be considered a parka length - doesn't completely cover my backside, but likely would on someone with an average to petite torso. I typically run between XS and S... ordered the XS in this and it is perfect. Nice and slender, with just enough room for a thick sweater. I love the fleece around the neck/chin and the stretch wrist cuffs for keeping wind out. A little spendy, but this one is worth it.
