KATHMANDU HIKERS
October 31, 2012
After a lot of research, I settled on these GoLite hikers for a trek to Everest Base Camp for their reported wide toe box, insulation and zero toe to heel drop (I'm happiest in barefoot shoes). They showed up yesterday, and I am wearing them for the first time today. They are comfortable, cute and roomy. The only complaint is, I put them on with medium thick socks and was surprised to find that they are tight. I wear a 6 on the street, and a 6.5 in a hiker or running shoe. I ordered a 7 in the GoLite to make room for socks, and still find them slightly tight. I don't know if this is just my reaction to having to wear a real (not barefoot) shoe, or whether it would have been better to order a 7.5. I'll try some different socks while I'm breaking in, and I will update my review after I get back from my trip, mid-December. I will say, I've had a pair of GoLite lightweight hikers for about 10 years and they've serviced me well. I'm hoping for the same here.
