Gregory Denali Pro 105 Mountaineering Backpack
Description
When you need massive load support with plenty of performance features, nothing gets you there better than Gregory's Professional Series packs. The Denali Pro 105 Backpacking Backpack is the flagship of the line--one of the best packs that Gregory has to offer. As an experienced backpacker or an accomplished mountaineer, you're already aware that the longer you're out in the field wearing your pack, the more you rely on adjustable features to customize and adjust the load on your shoulders and back. The Denali Pro offers more adjustment options than other packs with similar carrying capacities. Easy-access stabilizer straps around your shoulders, hips and sternum allow you to fine tune your suspension. The Adjust-A-Cant waistbelt provides three different cant settings. The Flo-Form® II shoulder harness is contoured and sculpted to wrap comfortably over your shoulders and around your chest. The Auto-Cant Shoulder Harness System adjusts automatically for optimum fit and comfort. The Flo-Form® II Waistbelt features sculpted tri-density foam padding that hugs your hips without pinching or binding. The reinforced FOAM-X Flex frame sheet with cutouts provides flexible support and helps protect your back from the strains commonly associated with a week or more on the trail. The Flo-Form® II back panel offers cushioned comfort in the form of a special thermoformed foam with a cushioned insert and molded air channels. An occipital cutout provides extra head clearance and a load transfer belt stiffener provides maximum load transfer to your hips. The large stretch mesh side pockets are generous enough to hold additional water or fuel bottles and they feature a pass-through ski slot for enhanced portage capacity. Whip off the top pocket and you can convert it into a fanny pack with a built-in 2-inch wide web belt--an ideal necessity for scouting out the lay of the land ahead. The Denali Pro 105 also features a sleeping bag stash--unzip the large hoop door for immediate access. The Shelter-Rite® reinforced bottom is completely waterproof and virtually tear proof, so you don't have to worry about soaking or losing your contents inside the pack. If you want the best in large expedition packs, the expedition Gregory pack is certainly ready to go the distance.

I couldn't find any "bad" reviews for the Denali, except for its weight. However, this is due to this packs ability to distribute/stabilize loads + good materials. If you're hauling 75lbs, what's an xtra few lbs of base-pack weight, especially if it makes the 75lbs feel like 25?I have a 17" torso = Small pack, but got Med shoulder straps / hip belts. My first impression: This thing is pro- grade. The materials are all heavy duty, ample stitching, zippers/buckles/ webbing/mesh/ etc are all heavy duty. My 1st trek was 9 mi with 45lbs (no issues). Subsequent treks, with loads up to 75 lbs & the pack still feels great. My body doesn't nearly get as fatigued or sore as with other packs
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever

Great pack
January 17, 2011
I just recently bought this pack for a trip to Denali this coming June. I tested it out in Mexico on Iztaccihuatl and Orizaba and it was great! It carried fine and I was never in any discomfort during the climbs. I am 5'11", 167lbs. I bought the 106 L pack.
The outside pocket on the back works nicely for quick access to your puffy during breaks. That is the only exterior pocket (outside of the top helmet) which helps keep the weight down for the pack. I cut a few things off it to lighten it even more. Using our digital scale in the bathroom, I weighed the pack at 7lbs. That's after I cut out some nonsense that isn't needed.
I really liked this pack in Mexico and am very pleased with how comfortable it was during my climbs.
Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use, light weight
Cons: Cost
