It took me a while to decide which ice axe to purchase, but I decided on the Grivel G1+ because of three factors. Its hot forged head, the slight curve and the included leash. It might not be the lightest one available at about 16oz, but it isn't heavy either. I'm 5'8 and chose the 66cm length, which fits perfectly. Of course the length usually comes down to personal preference in the end, so choose what works best for you! I did notice one slight inaccuracy about the picture posted...the leash does not have the red plastic on it...it's just a leash with a plastic tip cover...I've posted a picture showing the difference. Not an issue really, but I figured an updated picture might help. Overall a great product and Altrec provided fast shipping and great service.
