If you play outside the boundaries in spaces where others can't see the lines down the mountain, you need the big floatation and pro freeride potential of Head's Monster IM 88 Ski. Bigger than the former IM 85, the Monster IM 88 ski features Head's Intelligence™ Technology, a stability-enhancing group of "Intellifibres" inside the ski that uses torsion energy to filter out disruptive energy for added stability. It all might sound a little out there, but all you need to know is that the Intelligence™ Technology in the Monster IM 88 allows the ski to react instantly to sudden terrain changes (in about 5 milliseconds or so) so the ski adjusts to changing conditions when you're ripping from powder to windswept ice crests and back to powder again. Another Head innovation found in the Monster IM 88 is Liquidmetal® technology. While just about every ski manufacturer is adding titanium to their high-end skis, Head's Liquidmetal® has a molecular structure that returns power at a ratio of 1:1, resulting in an improved ski rebound and improved turn initiation with roughly 29% more power than energy-absorbing titanium. Even if you don't follow all the techno details, the pros at Powder Magazine were impressed enough to give the Monster IM 88 the nod as one of their top All Mountain skis in the 2006 Buyer's Guide issue. The only important thing you need to remember here is that the Monster IM 88 is a backcountry ski--the wide waist has a tendency to ski through anything resembling a carving turn. This is an expert ski made for the other side of the mountain and dream vacation heli-skiing. John - 2006-03-20A Really Good All Mountain Ski
This ski can handle nearly anything. Yet I'm not selling my Head iM 75s as the 88 is less than ideal on on really steep icy slopes, where itcan only be described as managable. Nevertheless, it is fine Rocky Mountain ski and should be great in all conditions except on the very worst of icy days

This is the best ski I've ever ridden. It blasts through crud, powder and groomers with ease. It even holds a halfway decent edge on icy conditions. I highly reccomend this ski for the skier who wants a strong all mountain ski. This ski absolutley rips!!!! Get on a Pair today!!

Remarkably forgiving and helpful in cut up and untracked crud and a gas in anything resembling powder. No problem holding an edge on soft coudoroy. Surprisingly versatile. Being wide, it is a long ways from edge to edge. For firm groomers I'll keep my GS skis. But for almost anything else the Monsters will work and smile all the way to the bank.
