Greatest Hoodie of all time
April 11, 2011
I finally have found the piece of clothing that I was always looking for. A hooded merino wool with thumbholes and a half zip. I use this everywhere from 70 degree bike rides to 40 degree trail runs by itself, and then use as a base for anything cooler than that. This thing does it all, and it is amazing the temperature variation that this thing can be used in. For ultra cold, pull up the hood, zip the zip all the way up and use the thumbholes, and for every 5 degrees warmer, just adjust. The quality is top notch, as I have worn it 40 or 50 times and only washed it a couple of times and never has it smelt bad nor does it look much different than the first day I got it. I also have the I/O hoodie which has the same great qualities, but is even more snug fitting. Since I tend to carry a very extra lbs over the winter, I like the more loose fitting of the Indie more. But both are incredibly nice shirts, that I expect to have many more years in the future.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, incredible thermal range

It will be great for hiking & cycling. Nice bright color for Fall hunting season, otherwise would have preferred a more neutral color. Hood helps for cold weather, especially if you forget your hat.

Hoodie is warm, not real bulky, very good on wicking, and is practical for a cycling ride in cooler weather...also works well in just running around town, walking, etc. What I like the most is that the hood fits very well under a cycling helmet and covers the ears for col morning and evening cycling commutes! All in all, a very practical way to stay warm.Pros: Great design, Ease of use, Great value
my husband loves it...
January 13, 2013
I bought this Ibex hoody for my husband for Christmas and he has barely taken it off since. It is a nice light weight, not at all itchy and provides just the right amount of warmth under his winter jacket. He also likes the hoody as it fits perfectly under his snowboarding helmet. This is his first piece of Ibex clothing and he is already wanting more!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
great fit, excellent quality
September 28, 2012
I was looking for a light, good quality, and wool layer. This hoodie fit perfectly. I use this hoodie for running almost every morning. I found this piece is warmer than I expected it to be, and wicks sweat very well. It doesn't retain odors, dries quickly, and looks great! I cannot find any Cons.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use
The most versatile piece I own.
June 01, 2012
This is very warm for how light the material is. On the mountains it is great to be able to drop the hood and unzip when moving and zip up and put the hood on during breaks. This piece goes with me on 90% of my trips.

Have yet to wear it in action, but wearing it around the house, the fit is great, color is great for hi vis situations, and it's comfortable with a very functional hood. The only qualm I have so far is the embroidered logo on the back of the neck is a bit rough on the inside for something intended to be a baselayer. Wearing it around the house wasn't bad, but with a couple of layers and or a pack over it, I could see some discomfort resulting. Overall a great product at a great price.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Ease of use, Great value, Cons: uncomfortable embroidery
Hoodie that delivers!
April 18, 2011
I purchased the Ibex hoodie to wear in cool and warming weather while bike riding in the early morning hours, and it has been a pleasant surprise! The soft merino wool fits well with a tight fitting t-shirt underneath, and the 1/4 zip allows for good temperature control when needed. Although the wool is thin, it is surprisingly durable and has withstood daily wear. The wicking properties are excellent, and I much prefer wool to the synthetic "plastic" techno-wear I have for the same purposes. Excellent quality from Ibex is no surprise, as I have several durable products from this same manufacturer.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Great value, stylish
Nice modern wool product
May 24, 2010
I was looking for a nice modern thermal layer I could also use by itself when desired. This item fit the bill perfectly. The wool is very soft against the skin, wears well, and breathes much better than any synthetic or blend fabric. The only downside is the goat head logo at back of the neck. Though not terrible it doesn't add much the the otherwise sleek and fashion forward styling.
A great base layer
March 13, 2011
The men's hooded indie is my first choice as a base layer when going into the cold for extended periods. The marino wool feels great next to the skin and I believe it is also a bit warmer than my under armour cold gear hoodie. The thumb loops on the sleeves make layering a breeze and the hood gives extra protection until you have warmed up a bit.Pros: Build quality, Performance

I bought this mainly for cycling, but it's so soft and warm, I've been wearing it around the house as well. I wear the hood over a lightweight wool headband under my helmet on cold bike rides and it keeps my head and neck nice and warm. I have a 42" chest and weigh 190 and ordered a large. There's more than enough length on the arms and torso, and it's a loose (but not baggy) fit. If I had it to do over, I'd go with a medium to get a snugger fit for layering. The ebony marle heather color is very nice looking.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Cons: Cost
timeless performance and comfort
January 03, 2011
The Ibex woolie zip I received as a gift a month ago was so impressive that I bought a Hooded Indie for when it blows a bit. I've worn it several times indoors and out hiking on the trail. It's super light and comfortable under a Nano Puff pullover at 20 degrees. The thumb holes rock and you can zip up like a T-neck with the hood down too. At 6'6" 230 lbs the XL fits trim in the body, sleeves and hood excellent proportions, body length extends past the waist by a few inches. The fabric is tight and smooth and really gives the garment a modern timeless feel.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, Ease of use

Great outer piece for mild conditions. Merino wool doesn't scratch. Functions well as inner layer with wicking qualities of wool. Pocket would be nice.Pros: Performance
Very nice top
May 09, 2011
This top fits snug, which is perfect if you wear a shell on top. I use mine for running and have found it to perform better than synthetics. The quality is great. It's warm for material that would seem otherwise. It's expensive, but you will get quality and comfort in return - and the absence of synthetic smell.Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Great value, Cons: Cost
Excellent All-in-One Baselayer
October 14, 2010
I'm a big fan of Ibex, wool, and hoodies, so I was really excited to get this when it first came out. The fit is spot on (6'2", 190 lbs size Med.) with an athletic fit in the body, and long arms. It works great for just about anything, even around town, but I most often take it backpacking and use it as a base or mid layer. The thumb holes help cover my hands, and the hood adds head warmth which is perfect for starting out on chilly mornings. When it warms up I can just drop the chest zip and vent a bit. Super durable, wicks well (relatively light fabric), dries fast, and is well made with a high stitch-count. One of my favorite pieces in the closet!Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance
