The Ibex Scout Vest is a great product. I have purchased merino wool items from other companies , but this vest is much better constructed. I am 5" 11" and weigh 160 pounds and the medium is a good fit. The fabric is very soft but wears like iron. It also works well under a coat as an additional layer of warmth. I will be buying more Ibex clothing soon.

Awesome Vest

As with all of Ibex gear it rock, can use it while running and to work at the office. It's the only current Ibex vest with both a chest pocket and hand pockets. My only wish for improvement is the collar, it kinda sticks you in the neck when it's up. Overall it's a great piece to add to the Ibex collection!

Perfect for Layering

I own several Ibex lighter weight clothing items. The Ibex Scout is perfect for layering. I tend to get too warm wearing synthetic fleece clothing or heavier weight clothing. The weight of this item along with it breathability is the perfect item for moving from indoors to outdoors.

The men's Scout Vest is great product. The vest runs small and armholes are a bit small but nevertheless the material is great and the quality of workmanship excellent.

I received this vest as a gift and am buying another to be sure I always have one. The fabric is exceptional, thick enough to drape well and provide warmth, while being thin enough to fit under anything and provide just the right amount of warmth for a chilly office. I love it as a mid layer outdoors, but it really shines in a business casual office - never fails to receive compliments. Machine wash cold, gentle cycle and its good as new, never pills or loses shape. I loved it so much I bought Ibex fingerless gloves (another great product and great buy on Altrec) and I'm ordering an Ibex Arlberg vest next. Ibex wool garments perform as well or better than technical fleece, but transition to indoor settings with style. I'm 5'9" and 180 lbs with a little more around the middle than I want, and the L is a great fit. M is a bit snug for me.

A bit boxy but otherwise perfect!

It's a bit unfair to be complaining that the vest it a bit boxy as it's being worn by someone who's 6'3" and 160, so everything is boxy on said person. That said, the quality of the fabric is excellent, as is the construction. The vest (in the light grey color) looks wonderful. The pockets are well placed. Said person is wearing the large, and my only wishes were that it was a smidge longer and a smidge narrower.

The Ibex vest is a quality product. Seems very well constructed, with materials being top notch. Since I have only had it for a few weeks, I can't rate the durability, but I have no reason to expect less than great. I am 5'9", 165# and the fit is perfect. When I ordered it, I had a problem that was caused by me. Dealing with Altrec to get things straightened out was a great experience. They were very accommodating and the problem was resolved in a very satisfactory manner. Thanx Altrec. We'll be back.

IBEX Scout Vest

Great product, I purchased a medium and I'm 5'10" 165 lbs, fits perfect, just enough room but not to much. Can't beat wool, best material on earth. Wasn't shopping for vest with alot of pockets this vest is perfect just what one needs to carry essentials. Highly recommend, durable and comfortable with great protection.

great for moderate climate

Visited New Zealand last year and saw a number of outdoor wear items made of similar wool fabric that were very popular. Have worn various polar fleece vests for a number of years and have been looking for a slightly classier version - found it. Very well made and top notch looks. The front chest zipper pocket has become a must have for the glasses. Slightly less warm than the polar fleece and that works very well in the Bay Area. Has quickly become my go to choice except on those days that winter wins (very few this year thus far, thus the choice most days). Runs small so I had to exchange for the next size up. Only question is the slightly shorter garment length than the fleece vests but chalk that up to the sweater based concept. If they come up with a long, I will buy another.

Ibex - totally reliable quality

We have a few different Ibex Vests. The Scout is soft and warm, with a great fit that is not at all bulky. Offers great warmth for it's light weight.
