This is a soft merino blend as expected, and would work great as a base layer. I purchased this shirt to wear as a top layer on a regular long sleeve day. The warmth is great regardless of its lightweight thin feel. I normally wear large (at 5'8.5" - 185) but returned it for an extra-large since the large was skin tight; the arms were the right length as well as the torso, but the shirt hugged my chest too tightly. The extra-large ended up too long, but right everywhere else UNTIL I washed it. The extra-large shrunk just as needed. I bought the blue and the color is spot on. This shirt is wonderful quality and made in America! I would recommend it.

I just came back from a very temperature varying hiking trip in the mountains which made me want to write. I have had this now for all four seasons and it is always ready to do its job when I need it. Great for taking that little bit of chill off and keeping the body dry.
