Description

You love to wear your Ibex activewear pieces out for a trail run or as base layers when you hit the slopes. Spend your rest day with your feet propped in front of the fire and your legs wrapped in the luxurious, natural comfort of the Ibex Women's Izzi Pants.

Made from a blend of rich, New Zealand-grown merino wool and Lycra, these American-made trousers offer itch-free comfort for days around the house. Ibex uses winter weight stretch wool for these casual knit pants, giving them a thicker, heavier feel that will keep you warm on cool days but make them too hot during the spring and summer months. These wool pants would work great as loose-fitting yoga pants or as an extra-thick insulating layer between your long underwear and your shell pants.

Customers advise that these baggy pants are lovely but they are running a little longer than they expect and tend to stretch out and lengthen even more over time. Not a problem if you're blessed with long legs or you heed their warnings and go with a smaller size. A wide waistband with a cross over detail at the front feels and looks lovely on your feminine curves and patch pockets up front give them an adorable touch of fun. Move over sweatpants, the Ibex Izzi Pants for women offer soft, warm comfort with a lot more style in case the neighbors drop by to congratulate you on winning that recent Nordic race.

Great Pant for Travel!
February 03, 2011

Wore the Izzi pant to the Winter Carnival in Quebec. It was cold - but I wasn't! Wore with a pair of mid-weight merino wool long underwear underneath, and I was very comfortable. I bought the medium pant. The length was fine with boots - I am 5"6, 145 lbs. They also travel very well - no wrinkles. Very happy with this pant.

Best of the best cool-weather pants
July 01, 2012

I love, love, love these pants. They have wool in them so they keep you warm, but they are still soft and comfy, instead of scratchy. And the big plus is that they fit well and are figure-flattering. Great for outdoors or wearing in the city. Just great all-around.

Extremely comfortable
November 19, 2011

The Izzy pants are the best for true comfort. You'll never want to wear any other pants in cold weather outside or just hanging out inside. They do need a light layer underneath for outdoor sports. My only reservation is that they are too loose around the ankles, so might be considered not formal enough for "going out". The quality is fantastic. I'm 5'4" and find the medium just right.

Looks and comfort
October 21, 2011

I wanted something fashionable but still really comfortable for traveling and dates with friends. In my opinion these pants reflect the quality worthy of their price. I know about fine merino wool from knitting and was impressed at the quality of the fabric. Not a hint of itchiness, but soft, stretchy, warm, and wonderfully light (because it is wool) and the fabric drapes and moves--unlike a stiff denim or inert fleece. As a natural fiber it breathes much better than a synthetic. The fabric has superior "memory"-absolutely no bagging in the rear or knees. These are the most comfortable pants I own because of the fabric but also the unobtrusive seams, no zipper, flat waist band. The cut and fabric give them a stylish look- even a shapely silhouette in the hip/derriere. (Wear the waist band slightly below the waist--as it is meant to.) This was the only feature that gave me pause as the shaping was a bit more than I'm used to, but might be a plus for others. The length is long enough for me at 5'9", which is unusual because pants are usually at least an inch too short.

Pros: great fabric

So comfy!
March 09, 2012

While I can't yet comment on the durability of the pant, I can say they are amazing: comfortable and warm. The heaviness of the fabric creates a nice drape--Not the usual "sweat pant": you can definitely sneak them out of the house or gym to wear about and through out your day. I have the grey heather. I also like the made in the US commitment of Ibex.

Rockin' these Ibex
September 20, 2012

I live in yoga pants and skinny jeans, but in the winter I like a little extra warmth. I live in these pants fall/winter long! If you have a nice figure, be sure to order your true size so they show off your shape. I am 5'5" 130 lbs. and had ordered a medium, and even though they were a bit loose and baggy, I enjoyed them. I've now ordered a small and they fit perfectly! Far more flattering. The loose fit was fine too, just a different look. The mediums I can fit thermal underwear underneath, so those are now for really cold days. The smalls are so chic! I love the wide leg. SOOO comfortable you won't want to take them off. Worth every penny.

Love these pants!
December 08, 2010

The style and quality of these pants are top-notch. I recently purchased three pairs, one in each color available - black, blue-black, and bittersweet, which is sort of dark-taupe-gray. I live in the Midwest and want to have stylish cold-weather clothes that are comfortable. These pants fit the bill. I am not one to wear sweat pants in public, but I would wear these pants to dinner in a nice restaurant, or to my professional job. They are every bit as comfortable as sweat pants, but are stylish, attractive, and can be dressed up or down. They are probably the most versatile clothes I own. I've hardly worn anything else since my recent purchase. The only caveat is that if it is windy outside, the wind goes right through them. If I know I am going to be outside a lot, I simply add a pair of warm leggings or tights. A long coat and a pair of tall boots can also reduce that problem. I originally purchased a pair of these pants several years ago and have begun to wear them out. The inner thighs rub together and they began fraying there. I have never had this happen to my clothes before, so was a little disappointed, especially considering the price. I still wear these pants around the house and as pajamas. The merino wool in these pants does not make me itch, as regular wool does. The first pair of these pants that I owned were a little bit itchy, but the new ones are not. The smalls are perfect for my 5'3", 123 pound body (28" inseam). The mediums fit well, but are about 3 inches too long. I don't like to wear heels, but if you do, and if you have a longer inseam, you might consider the mediums. The stretchiness of the pants provides some leeway in sizing.

All Around Comfort
October 17, 2011

These pants do it all. They are extremely comfortable, warm (i.e. cozy not hot), and look good in many situations. They can be dressed up with a nice sweater and scarf or worn to sit and meditate, exercise or just plain hang out. . For me having one pant that works in many situations by just changing your top makes these pants ideal. A definite buy again!

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Performance, versatile

These pants make me happy
February 23, 2010

I purchased these pants for a February trip to Italy. They were a godsend. Toasty warm and very comfortable but not hot. They drape so nicely that you feel dressed up. I am 5'4" and slender and the small fit perfectly with a little heel. I am about to order another pair.

Nice pants
April 13, 2011

These are unisex pants. I am male, 160 lbs 5' 10'' and large fits nicely. Could wear a medium if you want tight sexy look, but less comfortable. In Northern California I wear them for cold day tennis, for around town, walking the dog and for x-country ski skating. Great cut, great look, comfortable over a wide temperature range. could be improved by a draw cord waist and more secure pockets. The Izzi and loose tight differ only in the cut, with Izzi having a more 'boot cut' flare at the bottom. The competition is the Icebreaker Rio pant, a lighter weight. I use both. Like wearing pajamas all day, great stretch and range of movement. many other pants have similar look, but the wool is very functional and worth the extra price. I have several pair and after I got them my wife wanted them as well.

I bought these pants for an upcoming ski trip to Austria. I wanted to stay warm and cozy on the plane as well as after a day on the slopes. I am very pleased with the quality of the fabric and the construction. This is what you pay the extra money for. These pants do not disappoint. The fit is spot on and they definitely look good enough to go out for dinner.

amazing pants
April 14, 2011

the pants are really great. I am 5'5 - 122 lbs (I usually wear a 4-6 (or a small) in TNF or Prana etc) and I ordered a medium based on another review. They are just WAY too long so I ordered a small. I thought the small didn't drape right and are just a tad short. So I kept the mediums and had them altered (bummer), but they are such wonderful pants that I HAD to keep them. I know that I will wear these pants constantly.

Good-wide leg
January 05, 2012

Good - Fit & quality of product. Design - Wide leg and true to size. I am pear shaped, and often take a medium (5'4" - 126lbs.), but I would need a small - which would have been according to the size chart of which I did not heed! I had to return because they were not the pant I needed - the legs were too wide.

Pros: Build quality, Cons: very wide leg

Gotta love 'em
October 13, 2011

Ibex is one of fav brands. Quality is always top notch and styling fits my tastes. Yes, yes...I know. The price makes you gulp BUT the cliche of you pay for what you get is true. The standard is so high you will get tired of the clothes before they wear out, as opposed to most places where the clothing might as well be disposable since they only hold up one season. I've only just recently started wearing these because it hasn't been cold enough, but Mother Nature fixed that. I look forward to yoga, hiking, errands, walking the dogs...take your pick...in these Izzi pants.

Pros: Great design, Build quality, Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, Cons: Cost

Favorite Pants
July 22, 2010

These pants are fantastic. I wear them every day, they can be dressed up easily, and they're great travel pants. Wool hardly ever has to be washed, and even if you're in a smokey bar it won't pick up the stink! Nice and warm but breathable too. They run a bit long and I have a pair I kept natural length for cozy around-the-house wear but my travel ones I did have shortened.

Great pants...
December 24, 2010

I got a pair of theses pants as a Christmas gift, and they are excellent for the cold weather in MA. These pants are perfect for my size. I am on the smaller size, as I am 5'2" and weigh about 115lbs. I usually have to get my pants altered, but the length of these pants are perfect. The light weight merino wool material with the spandex make these pants extremely comfortable. I think these pants are great, but may be a little short for taller people (over 5'11").

perfect travel companion pant
January 25, 2013

I am still searching for the perfect Ibex pants. These are pretty darn close but need to have a zip pocket somewhere to make a 100% in my books. The shallow little patch pockets on the front are big enough for ID or Credit Card but there is always the worry that it will fall out. This is a form fitting pant that i first purchased in grey. My latest pair is black and I am much happier with a darker color as I feel it isn't so "revealing". I would also note that this is a fairly long pant. I am 5'10" and they are perfect on me. On a shorter gal they might need hemming. I feel comfortably dressing this pant up or down as the need arrises. It seems just as suited to lounging as to dining, a pretty good trick. The perfect travel companion pant.

They fit well and will last forever plus they are warm . I was a little disappointed in the outer texture of the pant .I wanted something softer but the inside of the pant was much smoother and softer to the touch . These are keepers . There are not that many wool pants on the market that are sporty , machine washable and quite presentable for other kinds of occasions .

The bees knees!
May 26, 2011

These Izzi pants definitely deserve all the accolades they get. Beautiful fit, thick, soft, warm material that drapes nicely and holds its shape. I also have the Energy Tight, which are a form fitting, sporty version of these tights. Also recommended! Don't be afraid to buy wool - you'll never go back! I'm more of an Ibex fan than an Icebreaker fan (especially of Ibex Shak and other sweaters) but you really cant go wrong with either brand. And Altrec's customer service makes it so easy to find the right size. Ordered regular shipping and my new Izzis were delivered within 48 hours!!

High quality, pretty color.
December 20, 2011

I ordered the Bittersweet, it's a pretty, dark brown color. The quality is superb. The thing that surprised me was that the size S was a little short. I was surprised because I am 5'3", average proportions (not long legged, nor long waisted), and most pants are too long for me. Plus, there are a number of reviews commenting that they needed to be hemmed. I wished they were longer, so over a couple of washings tried to get them to stretch by hanging them to dry. Though I had some improvement, they were still too short. I enjoyed wearing them, they were very comfortable. They did bag a little at the knees. I like the waistband, it sits below my belly button and is a great camouflage for my tummy. But I wasn't absolutely crazy about them. Until I ordered another pair in a different color also in Small. The length is perfect and I wore them for a week! Though they still bag a little in the knees it is not as noticeable because the length improves the drape. Now I can say that I love these pants! I will be sending back the original, too short ones and ordering the other colors, as well. Inconsistency in length is why I only gave 4 stars, also only 4 for Durability because I haven't had them that long. Have since also ordered an Ibex shirt for my husband, super high quality items! Worth the price.

I live in these pants. I have worn my black pair non-stop for a month. They have been great for lounging, for hikes, for work and evenings on the town. I only took them off on the day I cut down our Christmas tree. They have yet to begin to pill; however, I have noticed some bits of light colored lint sticking to the outer hem. strange sizing
January 03, 2012

these are beautiful pants and a really nice weight for the season. I had a problem with them because the medium size was a bit too tight in the body part of the pant and the large had legs that looked like clown pants. I put them together and the only difference in size was in the legs! I am a size 10 - 12 pant and medium is always what I order. I really wanted these pants to work for me but, I had to return them.

Excellent Quality
December 14, 2010

I think these pant are beautiful, and the quality is beyond compare. That said I do have some issues with the fit, they are very heavy, so someone with a thinner build may not find these very comfortable. I also found that they were shorter than most athlectic wear pant in the waist to crotch area, which leads to them not being as flexible with your body- which is too bad since they are meant to be yoga and athletic pants.

Amazing pants, but too expensive
May 16, 2011

I sent these back with great regret. I had been hoping based on previous reviews to get away with wearing these for work and travel in Europe, but in the end they looked too much like yoga pants -- and I just couldn't justify spending that much on a pair of sweatpants. If I could, though, I would have definitely kept them. Unbelievably, deliciously comfortable and flattering on my 5'6", 145lb, 40yo body. Maybe an inch or so too long.

Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, no-itch, Cons: Cost

Love Ibex and the Izzi Pant
July 06, 2012

The Izzi Pant is the perfect pant to wear most seasons and for any type of occasion. Very comfortable, fits nice, and the fabric is warm in the winter, but is suitable for spring & fall as well. Care is easy---wash it inside out in a mesh bag and then hang to dry . I am 5'7" and the length of these is just right for a variety of heel heights. I love merino wool, Ibex, and the fact that these are made in the USA and guaranteed. Worth every $$$.

Great Pants
December 11, 2010

I wear these pants as a sweatpant alternative and I take them with me on my colder weather bike tours to wear in camp. They are extremely comfortable, especially with the lower waist. These pants provide great warmth without a lot of weight, although I agree with other reviewers that wind cuts right through them. Wear them with wool tights underneath, however, and you'll never be cold. I am 5'6" 125 pounds and the small is a good fit. My only complaint is I have a 32" inseam, so I wish they were a little longer. However, for casual use or wear around camp this means they don't drag on the ground, either.

Pros: Great design, Build quality

I really like these pants, very comfortable, flattering fit. They were a little long, and they're not the type of pants I would wear with heels so I had to hem them (I'm 5'6" tall), but this is probably better in case you're taller.

Perfect fit!

These pants are a perfect, flattering fit. I immediately ordered a pair in another color.
