Not bad, a little short for its purpose
June 12, 2011
I should start with the fact that I love Ibex gear ... It is great quality, animal friendly and they do try to manufacture in environmentally friendly way. So specifically to that hat, I bought it with the thought it was going to be deeper than a traditional skull cap. Unfortunately and literally, it fell short. Great hat, a little small.
Pros: Build quality, Ease of use, Cons: Bad designLight and warm

I purchased this cap specifically because it reaches over the ears. It's light, yes- but enough general body motion to generate body heat makes it sufficient even in colder temps. The first time I wore it was during a bad storm earlier this month. It proved its worth, it's functional, light, and has a slim profile. That's all tops in my book. I'm already pretty much an Ibex convert because of the fly-under-the-radar good looks with their dark colored gear, this cap was no exception.

great skull cap for under bike helmet

I got this to wear during winter cycling. The flatlock stitching is great and it's very comfortable under a helmet. It looks good on its own and the merino is really nice.

Favorite Active Merino Hat
June 15, 2012
I have several Merino wool hats of varying weights and in some cases including nylon blended with wool. This cap being pure merino has a very soft texture but is a little on the light weight side, so I like to have a slightly warmer one with me when conditions call for it. Being relatively lightweight means that it is comfortable for most cool weather endeavors when active and it dries very quickly. So in summation, it's not a real warm hat, but perfect for when you're moving fast. The zepher weight of ibex is excellent as a colder weather base layer in general. I have a longsleeve and some boxers of the same fabric and it is my favorite base layer for when the temperature is low. Good stuff.
