Warm, light, doesn't smell
January 28, 2013
Wore this for six days of ice climbing, ranging from single digits into the forties (F) with no complaints. Does not acquire a nasty smell like some synthetics. I would probably wear my windstopper balaclava instead if the wind chill was more serious.

I bought this to wear under other hats to cover the gaps in cold weather. Works well.
Lives up to the quality of other icebreaker produc
December 05, 2010
I have found everything icebreaker makes to be of impeccable quality, and this is no exception. I first used this on a windy day (> 22 mph) shoveling mulch in an open field. It did not prevent me from noticing the wind at all, but it took the edge off. Wind protection goes up as you sweat (due to the properties of merino wool). You will need a high collar shirt (not quite turtleneck) or a jacket. The photo is accurate, but for a lot of normal clothing the neck covering does not quite reach where the collar of the shirt goes (i.e., you cannot wear this with a normal undershirt, but you can wear it with an Icebreaker GT200 LS Chase Zip with no issue, but with, say, a Icebreaker Men's Oasis Crewe Bodyfit 200 it covers all the skin until you begin to move around. I would not wear it as depicted, because you will get wind in there.
Pros: Build quality, Performancefunction and quality
December 06, 2012
What can one say about Icebreaker that is not already evident by the quality and function of their products? Excellent quality, performance, and a great company. I have lived in extreme cold in the mountains, prairies and cities, and wool is still the best for warmth and longevity. I like the low bulk aspect as well.
Wicking and Warm

Does a good job of wicking moisture away and being breathable while providing warmth. Comfortable, fits well under ski helmet and works well with goggles.
