Nice but I wonder how long it will last

I have gotten several compliments on this sweater. It is nice enough to be worn at work. It is soft and the fit is good. My one concern is that it has already started piling. I also wonder how it will do when it gets washed. I do like the look of it. As such, I would probably purchase it again.
