When you head for the backcountry, it makes an awesome technical layer, by itself or layered under a shell. While on an all-day trek to the Stanley Mitchell Hut, this jacket excels at trapping heat and cutting the wind. Once there it's a perfect throw on when making a quick bucket run for water or bringing in some wood. Drying quickly on a hut hook, a shearling interior feels soft on the skin, while a one-hand adjustable storm hem and zippered hand-warmer pocket give storm relief when you have to head out for another supply run.
