Excellent desert and mountian glasses
October 04, 2011
First off, the case is very nice and sturdy, and the magnetic side shields attach and unattach cleanly and quickly. The pieces that sit on your ears have what feels like wire in them, and can be bent into shape for a good fit. The lenses are fantastic, light, strong, even flexible. The polarization is wonderful, and really was useful hiking in knee deep water with uneven and slippery rock underneath. The tint is always just the right level. I don't think I'll ever want to be in direct sunlight without them. Living at altitude and in a very sunny place (high desert), the light can be harsh, and squinting is exhausting. I also found these perfect for some climbing routes. In direct sun, light sandstone really reflects a lot of light, and at the end of the day, my partner had red, swollen, and half sun blinded eyes, while i was unaffected. (Led by Sheep, Zion Natl Park. Easy and fun!) Further, i don't feel that these are to dark to drive with, but i do remove them in low light conditions. For example, hiking through a shady forest, visibility is better without them. The frames are a very tough, strong yet flexible material, and take very well to abuse. Abrasion resistant and easy to clean.
just what i was looking for!

purchased these glasses for multi-use, out in the city to mountaineering. without the side shields, they look great to wear around the city. with the side shields, the coverage and protection on the mountain is great. so far i´ve used these while out rock climbing and on Mt. Whitney. the camel lens 2-4 has worked great while hiking through shade and into bright light. my face is oval shaped, so these glasses provide better protection than the explorers, which have a more round frame.
