Julbo's Kid's Peekaboo Sunglasses might cost more than those cheap discount sunglasses down on the crowded rack at the drugstore, but there's a big difference beyond the price tag. Up to the age of 13, most eyes absorb up to 60% of UVA and 25% of UVB light--that's painful and potentially harmful. Julbo paired their durable and flexible Kid's Peekaboo Sunglasses with Alti Spectron X6 lenses--the darkest lens tint made by the company--so your child enjoys full UVA, UVB and UVC protection while boating, camping and skiing. While those tags dangling from the cheap kid's sunglasses rack might mention UV protection, it's often tough to tell the specifics of which kinds of UV protection--and don't expect any data on visible light protection percentages. (Julbo's Alti Spectron X6 lenses take the Visual Light Transmission (VLT) down to 5%, which is only a bad thing if your kid borrows the car and races along shady highways.) Where other kid's eyewear falls apart, the Kid's Peekaboo is built to last and withstands plenty of rough play. Small rubber insets along the temples help enhance the hold far better than conventional discount sunglasses. Another nice touch is antiglare treatment on both sides of the polycarbonate lenses to minimize distortion from light reflected along the sides of the eyewear.
