The affordable women's K2 True Luv is a highly durable design with plenty of performance features for all-mountain adventures, and this season K2 expanded the sizing so more recreational skiers can enjoy the experience. The True Luv features K2's proven torsion box construction, the most proven and widely used design on all K2 skis. Inside the True Luv is a triaxially braided glass configuration around the lively spruce and fir wood core, giving the ski exceptional rebound and response. While K2's torsion box design has been around for a number of years, it remains one of the best (and critically-acclaimed) ski construction techniques because of performance and versatility. If you're wondering about the mix of fir and spruce in the core, that's the key element in K2's female-specific BioFlex design. K2 created a stable and forgiving profile by using spruce at the tip and tail and fir beneath the binding area. Using spruce at the ends helps with turn initiation and enhances the lightweight characteristics that are essential in keeping a female-specific ski more responsive than a heavier unisex ski design. Another refinement is K2's Mod Technology, a secondary core that's independent of the spruce and fir core. Mod Technology dampens vibrations without messing with the ski's overall flex. This improves the ski-to-snow contact while reducing the bouncing chatter. The result is a smoother ride that carries through a range of terrain with predictable consistency. Combined with the M2 10.0 binding, the True Luv delivers powerful carving potential that will please aggressive skiers (even those expert women) without any of the unsettling chatter that sometimes rattles advancing intermediates. It doesn't have the lightweight titanium refinements found in K2's top-of-the-line Marker M1 integrated systems, but you'll probably appreciate the cost savings--and the peace of mind with every turn into the fall line. Just like last year, K2 will donate a portion of their proceeds from all K2 women's products to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation--as if you needed another reason to pick up a pair of True Luvs for you or a friend.
Skis great all around
Was a little concerned I picked too long of a length while trying to select something I could grow into and use for a number of years. Turns out 'no worries' the ski is very forgiving and predictable. I'm very happy with a great all around set up.
Great Eastern Ski
I'm an advanced intermediate skier in WV on primarily packed powder to icy conditions. This ski provides an excellent, predictable platform and was great fun for spring skiing as well as they tracked solidly through heavy stuff. Good feedback and responsiveness for the $; however, they were goosey in powder...not that we get much, so that could have been from "operator" error. Tru Luvs helped me get to the next level and are great on our generally powderless Eastern mountains.
heavy poor response
These skis dragged me all over the slope. I had no control of them they are heavy and lack finesse. I am a smallish 5' 3" female with a strong 115lb frame. I am 33 years old and have been skiing for 25 years. i have been skiing various terrain in WA, CA and UT on Dynamic Freeride 150cm's. I bought k2 luv's because they were on sale and i thought i might be ready for a change. i took my new k2's to a nearby resort in Snoqualmie, WA to test them out. The day was sunny with fresh snow. The area tends to have heavy popcorn or ice which I am accustomed to. The k2 tru luv skis pulled and dragged me, they tore at my knees and had no finesse at all. i felt like i had heavy planks on my feet and it was very uncomfortable and nearly horrible to endure. how can a day skiing be made horrible? you might ask. on these planks. i took two runs. an easy to warm up and got dragged around on the bunny slope like a novice!! then needed to try the luv's on more difficult terrain just to make sure. I had almost no control in the moguls having to really heft these monsters around to get them to articulate turns and sometimes missing my turns entirely making me somewhat of a danger and an out of control skier. This was bruising to the ego after skiing for 25 years and spending hours and thousands on tickets in Utah and California with no problems. Speaking of problems, I've never had any with my knees since i switched to parabolic skis in the late 80's. These skis tore at my knees like the old straight planks used to. After the one and only run on the black diamond, I went down to the car and got my old trusty Dynamics and shredded those moguls for the rest of the day. My muscles in thighs gladly taking over from the pulling feeling the K2s gave me in my knees and happily being able to maneuver the much lighter skis around moguls and even backwards carving if i chose. I will stick to my 13 year old dynamics thanks. K2, you can keep your cheap made in China planks. Guess you get what you pay for. K2s were $400. dynamics were $400 13 years ago.
