Description

Far more flavorful than chlorine and potentially less harmful than iodine, Micropur® Purification Tablets use soluble silver ions to penetrate and kill cysts, viruses, bacteria, protozoa, worm eggs and giardia. Keep in mind that you need to wait two hours before drinking from your newly purified water supply. Micropur® in liquid and crystal forms has been readily adopted by boaters, campers, RV enthusiasts and adventure travelers throughout the rest of the world for years. These precisely measured tablets are ideal for purifying large quantities of base camp water overnight, especially if the water will remain in hydration reservoirs for an extended period of time (no algae or germs to worry about). If you need water quickly or rely on sources with gritty or muddy runoff, consider using the Katadyn Guide™ or Hiker™ Water Filters.

Micropur tablets
June 10, 2012

A backpacker who is a retired bio-chemist told me about these. No mixing liquids, no odor and stain of iodine, no bulky filter, no ultraviolet light. The tablets stay dry and unbroken in individual foil packets. You use one per liter. The directions say wait four hours, internet instructions say two hours, the chemist said 30 minutes is enough for everything but viruses. I play it safe, treating several liters overnight. The water comes out clear and, in my experience, tasteless.

Pros: Lasts forever, Performance, Ease of use, trustworthy brand, Cons: Cost
